Unwise would be putting it mildly.
Downright ignorant, stupid, dangerous and completely !!!!!! would be more appropriate.0 -

I thought that as well but I didn't say it as I didn't want to get sued.0 -
Sassy you are so far off the truth here it's unreal. As a former driving instructor what you did is considered to be dangerous driving.
The other driver CAN overtake in a built up area IF there is sufficient room and it is safe to do so. You CAN exceed the speed limit BRIEFLY in order to complete the manouvre. That's not to say that the other vehicle is correct to be overtaking a car doing the speed limit. If the vehicle pulled out sharply, failed to signal and was aggressive then the police have every reason to pull him over.
What you cannot do is cause a situation to become worse by increasing your speed to prevent the vehicle from re-entering the carriageway. What the highway code asks you to do is ease off the gas and allow the vehicle to enter and if neccessary gently touch the break to let the vehicle behind know what you are doing (which he should be safely 2 seconds behind you anyway)
You quote the highway code and what it says is of course correct but the issue here is that the above posters are not disagreeing the other driver was in the wrong, it's being pointed out that you were also in the wrong to react to another drivers poor judgement potentially causing an accident.
Just because you have driven for 30 years without an accident does not mean you are a good driver, perhaps you are i don't know until i sat next to you for about 30mins assessing your driving. There are however plenty of experienced drivers who make plenty of silly mistakes and are often unaware that they are doing so0 -
I have the right to defend property of mine which is in the process of being damaged and would do just that.
I did not 'block it' as you state, I merely sped up by 3-4 MPH preventing him getting in front. Illegal
No where in the highway code does it state ANYONE is allow to overtake on a standard two way street by going on the wrong side of the road. Wrong, otherwise we would never overtake tractors
I will not allow someone to push in front of me, while I have been waiting and he wants to push in front - may be you find that acceptable, I personally don't. Illegal and dangerous
The Police went after this guy, seems like they also find his actions unacceptable - this as well the fact that he attempted a overtake with a car behind me, which also prevented his overtake, meaning he had to drop back two cars!
Do not call me a dangerous driver thank you, unless you have evidence (Solid) 100% evidence as you may well find yourself defending a claim of Libel! sorry but it appears you are
The only dangerous driver is one who attempts to over take on a standard road, while entering oncoming traffic including a Police car, meaning he clearly is plain stupid or did not see the on coming traffic, I would place my bets on the latter. If there was sufficient room it's legal if not it's dangerous
There are too many people on the road he claim they know the laws and unaware of the highway code changes over the years0 -
I'd post my video of Mr Vigilante "ive been driving 40 years and never had an accident", the guy who swerved over the road with his arms out of the window when I tried to overtake legally.... BUT this thread is heading way off topic enough as it is!“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

I overtook a car on the M26 yesterday, they pulled out behind me and gave me a blast of full beam...how very dare I overtake on a motorway?
Some people just think they have the right to police the roads in the absence of real police officers. It's these people that make our roads the dangerous place they are today.0 -
OP - as asked above - did you indicate to turn left?! As a driver and a pedestrian, I cross at junctions plenty of times and look around for cars turning, I know they're turning if they use their indicators. Just because you didn't see this pedestrian looking, doesn't mean that he didn't look, and it sounds like you've really annoyed someone with bad driving. Maybe. Please let us know.
Sassy-One - with all due respect, you're shouting lots of people down here and threatening them with reporting them for abuse. You've got no reason to do so. Your posts have plenty of inaccuracies which people have pointed out, and you point blank refuse to accept them. Also, where did this bus lane come from that you've just brought up?!
A few points to ponder. What if your speedo isn't that accurate, and you were actually doing 25mph? The overtaker would think he's behind a dawdler, would that make it OK?
Overtaking in the 'wrong lane' as you state it is the way it's done on single lane carraigways of course! Are you saying that you're only allowed to overtake on dual carraigeways and motorways?!
Me being allowed to overtake you has nothing to do with what speed you're doing, how many cars I want to overtake, or whether there are houses around, all of which you have claimed make overtaking illegal.
And whilst we're talking about what you should and shouldn't do - you've been told already that you committed 2 offences - you drove at 34mph in a 30, and you sped up whilst someone was trying to overtake you - both wrong.
If you disagree with the above, feel free to discuss further, or hand in your licence, you've been very lucky in your 30 years of driving!0 -
If only carlsberg makes sassy one, he'll probably be the most popular member on internet forums......... :rotfl:0

Hi Almilliar
Yes I was indicating and was going slow as I always try to anticipate the unexpected such as a pesdestrian stepping out. I was in mid turn when this individual stepped out - was going very slow hence did not hit him. He stepped of the kerb and could not proceed as I was then in front of him. He then lifted his foot and attacked my vehicle with all his strength.
I really don't know what else i could have done to prevent this happening.0 -
