As already stated, the final bit of information you state goes not apply given the circumstances, I could not have dropped back being I had a car behind and was doing 30, not without causing the driver to go in the back of me - so I think given that, the information you state is incorrect.

What if someone pulled out in front of you?Or a pedestrian steeped out?Or a dog ran across your path?Would you have just ploughed into them because you are worried about the car behind? It does have its own driver you know, its not a trailer.

There were more options open to you than dangerously speeding up to prevent someone overtaking you.If you cannot see that then perhaps some more driving lessons are required as your 30 years on the road haven't taught you much.

Reading what I Just have, I'm speechless.
  • If you were in a narrow, dangerous, built up 30 limit and you are such a perfect driving god why did you deliberately speed up to an illegal 34mph for no other reason than to deliberately force another vehicle to abort a manouver they had already committed to? Are you traffic police and trained for such things? If they were unlicenced uninsured !!!!!! as assumed earlier I'm sure they would laugh and give the finger as they forced you into a lamp post before doing a runner, but what if they were plain clothes CID on their way to an incident, they have an eclectic mix of vehicles there, last I seen 3 years ago edinburgh CID had a rough looking but solid H reg escort and a S reg escort and an old fiat punto they used to use sometimes, defineatly not what you would expect to be driven by on duty police and they see some funny sights on the roads, but they dont stop cars, just radio the details to traffic.

The alleged support of "admin" for this troll would leave me in the same state -if it's true! Most would see the sassy nonsense posted as fact across this forum as just bringing MSE into disrepute.

I'm getting one too, he only pays 200 quid a year insurance for a supercharged engine enhanced car.

Then again he probably advises the insurance companies on correct rules and procedures, whilst doing dog sled journeys to Everest and assisting NASA in planning the next Mars landing, so he gets special rates.

As a minimal poster and infrequent visitor I can assure you that Sassy has clearly demonstrated his grasp on "fact" to be tenuous at best. MSEs reputation, I suspect, is safe.

I think persons who believe you can overtake on a standard street need to read here:

    http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Highwaycode/DG_070314

Stated here, direct from the governments mouth and the Highway code states:

    Section 167

DO NOT overtake where you might come into conflict with other road users - which he did as travelling at 30 MPH with a car behind doing a double overtake would cause conflict

If you would have to enter a lane reserved for buses, trams or cycles during its hours of operation - Yes

where the road narrows - which in my case it did

So, in fairness, unless you know the facts, don't tell me what is right or wrong, as I have just checked the Highway code, and as I stated prior, I was in the right ;)

The point is not whether it's legal or not..... You ARE NOT the Police and have NO RIGHT to play vigilante.

People need to stop driving with their ego's and start driving with their heads.

OP - You need to report this incase he does try for an injury claim.

I'd like to see the rules where it states you can speed up to prevent someone trying to overtake you, regardless of the road conditions.

I guess when you have a 170mph Mondeo, you can do what you like.

"Firstly, i am not your 'mate' as you call me" :oFair enough, no offence intended chum.

"Lastly, I am pleased to see, yet again, a thread has been turned into a debate and 'fun' making one about me", Oh come on, be fair. If you insist on loading so many bullets you can`t blame someone for squeezing the trigger.

It is true that there has been some light hearted repartee but you must admit that what you did was unwise at the very least.
