never said i hated microsoft, i still use a pc and will continue to do so, both os and hardware have there good and bad points.

Heh I wasn't talking to you don't worryWas aiming it at newfoundglory but ye
And Olly - thats my point - People buy MAC's while saying to other peopel "Microsoft are just money grabbers" etc.. but then they'll go and buy MS software...
I mean if you want MAC because Microsoft are greedy, then use openoffice too and dont bother thinking about Vista running on your intel MAC. If you do either your contradicting your own views
As for me.. I will, with a smile, upgrade my motherboard and processor when Vista gets released and purchase the full upgrade (once again with a smile) - I will enjoy using it and it won't serve me many problems.
For those who want to be difficult, buy a mac[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

pcs are very upgradeble while macs are stylish. macs are good for multimedia work while pcs are better for most other things.
Apparently security is better on a mac but im not too convinced as i believe if macs were more popular more vulnerabilities would be shown in the os.
I like the mac osx user interface for doing multimedia work like photoshop the single menu at the top for all the windows is great as it allows for more work space and is less cluttered.
I will be using my PC alongside my mac for games, you just cant beat a good pc game.
so i will be using both mac, pc and osx, windows. So im happy0 -

i think a lot of the mac heads forget that apple is a company whose aim is to make money too... just like MS.
Oh yeah totally. If OS X could run on a pc, people might stop buying their hardware, which is the main source of their income.
My original point was that OS X won't be a "Vista killer" as it goes arm in arm with the hardware. It's restricted to Apple hardware, which restricts the audience.manutd wrote:pcs are very upgradeble while macs are stylish. macs are good for multimedia work while pcs are better for most other things.
I dunno. I think that's a common misconception. PC's can be just as stylish if not more. It depends upon your choice and what you buy. The difference in being upgradable is much less too, given that they now share a lot of similarities and architecture.
With regards to multimedia, Macs do have some great software, but the gap is very slim these days. Photoshop will perform virtually the same on a PC as it does on a Mac."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -

with Imacs the proccessors are soldered in and the graphics are part of the motherboard. however with a mac pro you can upgrade it easily, but upgrades like Sli graphics are not available, only support for addditional graphic cards to support additional monitors.
as for mutimedia work mac osx uses only one menu for all the windows leaving more workspace. Windows uses a menu for all the windows, however if you got a really high resolution screen it doesnt really matter.
Style factor, pcs can be stylish if custom built but most manufacturers like dell just dont cut it. i do like Alienware pc designs though, but their prices do seem high
i bought a mac cos it was cheaper then buying a pc of the same spec, as i got a educational discount and £100 off a ipod.0 -
Ah, yeah didn't think about the iMacs. Was thinking about the Mac Pro's as that'd be the kind of thing I'd get to replace my main unit.manutd wrote:i bought a mac cos it was cheaper then buying a pc of the same spec, as i got a educational discount and £100 off a ipod.
Nice. If I were to get a Mac it'd be one of the laptops. Most likely the Mac Book. Always warey of laptops getting overly hot though, and I don't really have the money or need one, it'd just be a luxury."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
You're all weird. Whats with the one-upmanship? Each person has different needs suited to a different OS. It's like comparing a tractor with a ferrari. You wouldnt plough a field with a ferrari nor bomb down the motorway in a tractor. In the same way you wouldn't use a mac to develop the latest games and its widely accepted that macs are favoured by the 'creative' community.
As for the new operating systems Microsoft have been plagued by setbacks and delays; somthing that Apple have leeched on slightly. Apple aren't above plaguerism either. They have settled out of court with Creative recently RE iPod patents.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Many people argue that MAC OS X is a good home user operating system thus comparing it to win xp or vista home edition etc..
Thats why there is an argument. Comparison for a home operating system thus basic needs include browsing, multimedia and photo capabilities as well as usability of course.
In that way its a good debate - so ye let it continue imo - tis a good one.
Commercially mac's are better for most multimedia things inc video editing etc but PC's obviously have there uses majorly (ie databases) yet for home users, i believe Windows is a good well supported OS. If you have a problem, everyone knows someone who can fix computers. With Mac's its a diff story so a lot less support and for the average user (and even the geek) i'd stay away personally.[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

FWIW, I love(d) my Mac, but now I can't repair it because it's too damn expensive! And software/accessories are expensive (although amazing design)
But it did look better than PCs and everyone could use it straight away without getting confused and stuff!0
