  • Well, you are assuming that Vista is actually shipped next year... and that they don't add another 11 month delay come the spring!

Remember, Vista is still way WAY WWAAAAAAAAAAYY in the distance for Windows customers.....

...and I'd be willing to bet £100 quid that Microsoft don't even ship Vista on-time! Oh thats right, its already 5 years late...
  • Nobody bangs on more than ex smokers and Mac users

  • LOL Mike

tbh new found glory - you're argument is RIDICULOUS.

You say 10.5 is a "Vista Killer".. now just as it's released before Vista, how does that means its a vista killer? Stop suckin off Mac's and open up your mind. You tried Vista beta? No prob not. Its actually a very nice very easy to use OS. Of course its got bugs before you start flaming me, but then i'd flame you back as its still being developed as you say.

And i'm glad its taking longer to be released. It means when it comes out its going be more secure and a lot better to use.

Now go away and be quiet ^-^

  • Its just a bad photocopy of OS X Tiger...

OS X Widgets -> Windows Gadgets?

OS X Aqua -> Windows Aero?

Whats with this new separate Windows Calendar/Mail? Since when did windows do that?

    Expose -> Flip3d

Why does the new Windows Search look like Spotlight?

etc etc (think you get the idea)

Looks like Mac users already know what Vista is like!

I was exicted about WinFS.... microsoft cant innovate, but they do good reseach and have some good ideas.... Microsoft promised us this and it looked great.... but oh, they scrapped the stuff that might have actually been worth paying for... and a whole bunch of other features they promised too. OS X is superior; its unix base means it has been tried and tested technology for many many decades.

And of course, who in their right mind wants to be dealing with the windows "registry"... DLL hell... compatibility problems... and the much-loved (bwhaha) windows activation and "genuine advantage". Why do people put up with it?

You can put a mac interface on it all you want, but its still windows.

I have no doubt you havent even used Tiger.... I am not looking for a Mac vs. Windows debate, this thread is for the discussion of Leopard - and how its features are going to be what Vista "Second Edition" will be in 5 years time (pending another full and complete re-write of windows of course :D:D )
  • Looks like someones just been watching the WWDC 2006 :)
  • First of all thank you newfoundglory - That IS an argument :)

Sorry i much prefer proper things rather than "vista's just a copy" lol!

Anyway my argument will be the features vista's implimenting I agree are delayed but that doesn't mean its a copy. They are standard OS features to enhance usability which would be developed anyway! How could a desktop get more advanced? Through a sidebar and widgets - Anyones guess really!

Now I agree the Mac OS is a solid OS. But its not a good home user OS. Though people say its easier to use and less problems, with the new Vista that overcomes that. Anytime a system setting is being changed it will warn the user first. This way kids and users who aren't technically minded won't be able to change things without actually realising it...

How many times do IT Technicians hear "I was trying to change the wallpaper and now my screen size is much bigger" :P

Anyway If your aren't looking for Mac V Windows I'll end it.... but please don't take about 4 features and say that vista is a copy of Max OS. There is a LOT more depth to it obviously... Vista is quite obviously an XP expansion rather than a leapord copy :)

    just my opinion matey\\\

  • You can't possibly tell me that Tiger is not a home user OS.... not when you compare it against Microsoft's offering of the dreaded XP Home edition! Have you any idea how crap XP Home is?

microsoft says: "just wait for Vista".

But we've been waiting 5 bloody years for Vista!!!! And that, just isnt good enough.

If i had kids.... i know which i'd be using to protect my children!!!!
  • lol 5 years... it was really only expected last year..

Im not too sure why you are so anti microsoft. At the end of the day windows supports a lot more games (which i like) - its very simple and easy to use - you say XP Home is dreaded with automatic updates working and a good spyware protector its fine for me!!!!!!!!!!!

Open your mind a bit and let the hatred go. Have you used vista yet? Its a great OS to use! Very easy, a lot better than XP, a lot more secure!

  • I did try Vista. However, i experienced the registry bug in Beta 2.... so the registry was corrupt and Vista wouldnt boot (surprise, surprise).

I lost patience, got bored, and gave up.

Rule number 1: at least ship something that actually boots, before it crashes!
