But they have a branch in London and their T&Cs don't prohibit Englishmen from opening an account

It says in the application that you must be a resident in N.I, and the office in London isn't a branch of Northern, Its Danske and is for Corporate clients.

You must have said you were resident in Norn Iron for them to entertain your application :silenced:

I have my foot in the door at First Trust Bank

You do know that AIB are selling off First Trust, so you'll probably end up a Santander customer at some point lol

I don't understand why they are way to selective for their accounts yes they have a good reputation but certain people have flawless or bloody brilliant credit history and are still rejected!!!!!

    ODD!

That is why Jessicat won't take me up on my challenge. I would contend that she would be declined.

It seems their process is to decline people and then if they appeal with further evidence there *might* be a chance they will roll over. BUT the appeal I think should support the initial application AND provide further evidence that you are good risk.

When I applied in June 2006 it had just been invented so they probably wanted to get their customer base off the ground. Now they are probably not bothered if anyone else has it.

If/When they introduce a credit card it would be intersting to see how tough they are on that. I guess it depends if they farm it off to cowboys like MBNA instead of keeping it "In House" like the Nationwide. I wouldn't be interested unless it was an "In House" product.

I know that , I was referring to the T&Cs which should take precedence over the online application form tick box

    Thanks , I didn't know that

I think I must be jinxed

I opened an additional account at Nat West in Scotland when there was speculation that a new entrant would aquire them

Now Santander are aquiring that and my other Nat West current account has started reporting my overdraft limit to CRAs as I have agreed new T&Cs _pale_

You have the old card! They do not issue those anymore.

The new ones look like this:

I prefer the OLD card with the hologramatic magnetic strip :(:(

Shame you can't design your own card. I think Abbey did that a few years back. My friend had her cat on her card. The Cov should have ran a competiton for members to design the new replacement card.

I think natwest allow you to design your own card as well but they are a crap bank imo! ;)

Only have my current account with the Cov. Nowhere else.

I notice Jessicat never took me up on the challenge to see if she could crack the Cov First criteria.

    All Mouth.

I thought you said you had a current account with Leeds Building Society

Well I have now got a Leeds account and am awaiting the arrival of my Cheque Guarantee Card!

They have definitely told me that they have no plans to withdraw their Cheque Card any time soon.

I know your with the cov but my natwest account allows me to upload photos onto my debit card. it seemed good for a few months but the quality of print on the card is bad and you get fed up of the picture so I went back to the standard background after a few phone calls to natwest! if you were to change the picture every month it would cost £60 a year. im just happy with the standard designs.

the new cards nice but I prefer the old card more.
the blues on the old card are nicer and I like the coventry logo and debit card logo at the top.
