  • hi primrose - I have had over £500 cashback from quidco in 2 years and OH has had about £200 in a year - plus I've had a couple of hundred from other cashback sites too definitely worth a go.

Get yourself over to the make £10 a day thread on the DFW board for other ideas on how to get more money in!

  • I do buy quite alot online. I'd rather order it than go to the shops nowadays, so I need to use the cashback sites don't I:o

Right off to have a look....

i've made nearly £1400 over 2-3 years. there are threads on this forum with hints/yips and to help start you off.

there's not much you can't get cashback on!
  • Hello primrose :)

Thought I'd pop in to see how you are doing and I am mighty impressed!!! Will keep an eye on you ;)

On the cash back sites, I used quidco to swap energy suppliers when I first started thinking about where we are at and got £55 pounds! Not actually 'got' it yet but when it comes through, it will go towards the OD. So worth investigating ;)
  • Thanks Mrs P :)

I have been thinking alot today about finances and oh and i have wanted to do a few things to our house since we moved in, all nice cheap things like knock through a wall, take out the windows, put in french doors, new kitchen-all cheap as chips;):D We had previously discussed remortgaging to do all of this, rough est of cost £10k-very rough and could possibly be much more! But today I thought no. No more credit and paying off over 20 years. Once ds is at school I can do more hours at work. If my current employer can't give me more hours i'll try to find something else, although i'd have to clear this with current boss as my job is one where it states in the contract you work soley for them blah blah. He has already sanctioned my current 2nd job so if I had another it would be my 3rd:D

If I can get more hours(I would want to do 10 more a week) then we would gain approx £300 a month. I want us to put £250/month at least away and SAVE for the house improvements!! An alien concept, saving rather than getting something NOW and paying it off!!

I am actually really excited about being able to save up and pay for it:rotfl: If we save £250 a month over 3 years that's £9k, oh has been putting some cash into a sharesave at his work and that's due out in a year or two. he's been putting £60 a month in and will have saved fro 3 years once it's finished, so even if he only gets back what he's put in that'll be £2,160 so with that and the savings we'll hit our £10k target and will be able to get quotes and things:D So we have an aim of Jan 2015 to have £10k saved up:eek:

But before my pipe dreams I need to pay off this pesky debt:rotfl:
  • oo I forgot to say, I got some bargains for christmas today. I got dd 4 Horrid Henry books, 2 rainbow fairy books , junior scrabble, screwball scramble and a turtle from Finding Nemo teddy(genuine Disney Store one) all look as new and cost about £5 for the lot!! I also got myself 2 cardi's and a pair of trousers that'll be great for work for £5.one cardi and trousers from M&S, they don't look like they've really been worn. So I spent about £10 and have got some great bargains:T I love bootfairs. And the people who run the bootfairs were handing out flyers for a half price pitch on certain dates so I may be able to do a bootfair for a £5 instead of £10. Have got some bits all ready to go, just need the weather to be ok.

and I really really must get ebaying:o

And the final good thing from today, my brother in law found dd's coat so I don't have to buy her a new one:j she'd taken it with her when she stayed with him but it didn't come back with her:mad: but it's back now:D YAY!

  • I've just checked my online bank, still flying by the seat of my pants to the end of the month but am so far within the o/d limits on both accounts(not by much and have transferred a little from my 'birthday/christmas' fund to tide us over) and haven't put anything onto the cc:T

Next time I log into the bank I will check the date I last bought anything on the cc and add it to my signature. I hope this will make me not buy anything on it

We will get some money in next friday. My wages will go in from both my jobs and I will be able to breathe for a while.

so far overtime in my 2nd job is going to be about 18 hours:eek: so after tax that should be around £110 which will be fab!

I still really really need to get on with finishing that private work. I may try to do that whilst ds is at preschool on friday. Then I can get paid and it's one more thing off my MASSIVE to do list

I'm still sticking(ish) to my diet and trying to lose a few lbs, my clothes are tight and I struggled to find something comfortable for work this morning:o:mad: On weighing in a may have lost 1/2lbs over the last week but nothing monumental:( but I need to keep it up as I am not buying more clothes, well I can't really!!

The fact that you are within your od and not used your cc is such an achievement well done. If you continue to build on this next month you can make small overpayments and before you know if that debt will be gone.
Have you plans for your overtime I try to move anything extra we get or I tend to fritter it away if I leave it in the bank.
If you want any tips on a diet I have been the dukan diet recently and had fantastic results if you want any info just ask.
    MARCH 2016 DEBT £25750/ £25035
EST DFD JAN 2021 (that needs to change)
NOW JAN 2019 (that still needs to change)

    Thank you:o

The overtime, well oh has just bought a bike. He uses a bike to commute to work and his other one was getting worn out so he spotted one on ebay for a bargain £40 so some of the overtime will have to go to that but the rest I will just leave in the account as the o/d's are getting too tight for my nerves to take. I know it porbably makes more sense to put any money against the cc as that attracts more interest but I think i'd like to get the o/ds down a bit too. Maybe leave £1,000 o/d on one account but get rid of the other so that means I need to find about £1,500:rotfl:easy!!

If you wouldn't mind giving me some info on the diet i'd appreciate it. at the moment i'm just cutting back on rubbish and trying to eat better rather than really pushing to lose weight as I tend to give up really really easily:o
