How about contacting the dog papers? There are two weekly dog papers for the pedigree/showing community (Dog World & Our Dogs) and each breed has a weekly column and a specific breed note writer.
The breed note writer for Smooth Fox Terriers in Dog World is....
JENNY THORNTON, 01782 522399, glendraterra@talktalk.net .... I can't find the details of the one for Dog World but I'm sure if you speak to the lady above she will be able to supply contact information for the Our Dogs writer.
I'm a sure that they would put an appeal in the breed notes for you - or even the main news pages - and possibly a photo. It's got to be worth a try. Good Luck.
ETA The breed notes also appear online not just in the printed newspaper."Men are generally more careful of the breed(ing) of their horses and dogs than of their children" - William Penn 1644-1718

I have spoken to Jenny who has already been contacted by Malcom from my local Fox terrier rescue and details are going in Dog pages on Friday.
I have also had a couple on media contacts emailed to me by my vet so I have contacted them and am awaiting their response. I will update you when I know.
I am going to put out more posters tomorrow and Friday with a different picture on to encourage people to keep looking and keep him fresh in their memory. I am offering a reward for information leading to his safe return so that if anyone knows where he is it may encourage them to come forward.
Thanks to you all for your continued support.0 -
Thank you all for your support I think I would have gone mad without it. Im afraid there is still no news he seems to have disappeared of the face of the earth. We are out of our minds with worry.
I have offered a reward for information leading to his safe return but still nothing as yet. Can I please ask everyone to tell their friends about him in case he is now out of the area.0 -
Solar,i am sure you will have thought of this but.........when he went for walks did you take him near any rabbit holes,or anywhere he could have gone in(or fallen down) and got trapped? When he ran off is it at all possible he could have gone somewhere like that? Just a faint hope that,as he hasn't been spotted so far,it could have happened.Or,like a cat, could he have crept into a shed, garage etc that could then have shut behind him?
Not a thing you want to have happened but...........0 -
We have been all the routes we normally walked and have been in ditches, had our other dog barking at rabbit holes to try to get a response (the poor rabbits must wonder whats happening!) We did this on the day he went missing , but there was nothing no earth moved, no barking , no digging, no Foxy anywhere.
Friends who have horses have been across fields and open land and down tracks to try to find him. Another friend who has a couple of working dogs has covered two woods for us in the first week he went missing. We just do not know where else to look.
I go out at different times of day, between 4.00am in the morning to 10.00pm in the evening, in the car or walking with our other dog, to see if he is about anywhere but nothing as yet.
He is so distinctively marked I cannot believe no one has seen him.0 -
I'm sorry, i knew really that you would have covered that possibility but like everyone else, just trying to think up something else you could try.You couldn't do any more,it is so sad and you must be going through hell.If only everyone loved their dog as much as you do,there would be so much less suffering.
Why do you think he ran off? I know he's a terrier and my mum had one for years that loved to go off on his own if he got half a chance, and tootle about. But he always came back.Had Foxy ever done that before? Would he know his way back if he went too far off ?0 -
thank you all for very kind replies we are still looking for her:(0

Oh, sorry to hear that - I'd hoped she'd be home by now... are you covering all bases, as mentioned in posts above?"Your life is what your thoughts make it"
