• Couldn't agree with you more Padstow, there is a young physically handicapped lad on my estate he has a brown labrador that gets walked by one of our neighbours regularly and he also has some sort of parrot somehow the parrot escaped and there was a notice in the paper and leaflets pushed through the door we all knew that the parrot belonged to this lad and he was using the parrot for his recovery. We all kept our eyes out for the parrot and a few days later he was returned home safe and well.

He was really made up that his parrot had been returned when it could of easily been sold for a few hundred quid.

Have you tried dogs today magazine enquiries@dogstodaymagazine.co.uk they might be able to help, worth a try any way.
Maybe Ed Doolan could put out the appeal again?
Dont know if you have tried dog pages but they have a lost and found section.
I hope he turns up I know how I would feel if I lost mine.

One other thing, have you thought about a animal communicator? I know it sound a bit way out and im not sure how i feel about it really but in your circumstances it might be worth looking in to?
If you google it there are quite a few around.
• Do you have pet insurance? Many of them include advertising etc as part of the policy if your dog goes missing, they also do a lot of the leg work for you. Hope you find your pooch soon. I would be devastated if one of mine disappeared.

At the risk of being accused of stereotyping, in an earlier post you mentioned a nearby gypsy camp. When my border terrier was a puppy two traveller kids tried to steal him, my son ran after them and managed to get him back, thank god. I would suggest a closer, but discreet look there. I hope you have good news soon.
• please post your dog on The Whippet Forum

when my cat disappeared, we put posters up, leaflets though letterboxes (this is what got him back, trapped in a house)
Posters in local vets and rescues, if you e-mail them the posters, they put them up.
Register on missing pet forums like http://www.nationalpetregister.org/index.php
We were also going to use http://www.animalsearchuk.co.uk/ to help find him, they can cost quite a bit, but you can also post a free notice on their site and anyone else registered in your area should receive an e-mail.
What about empyting your hoover onto the front lawn? it seems recommended for cats.
Ask local children, as they can be really keen to help search for them.
Also if you do have insurance, Have a check, you might be covered for advertising costs such as posters and a reward, we were covered for up to £250 for a reward and £750 for advertising.
Good luck and I hope she's home soon
• I don't suppose there's any good news on Foxy today is there..?

I spent a good two hours yesterday trawling the internet, looking at all the local and less-local (local to Foxy) rescue centres and charities. I don't know why - someone else would be much more likely to spot him than me - but I dearly want to see him returned home to his family

• how I wish the same, every time I log on it's the first part of the forum I check .

solar, have you thought about putting foxys photo and a missing advert in any of the dog magazines - usually when I go to pets at home I buy a copy of Dogs Today, Your Dog, or Dogs Monthly by the till.

They have classified ads in there with photos, just thought that way you could reach a huge audience x
