In simple terms there is noting technically to stop the telcos providing ADSL only. I'm not sure why Ofcom would impose this other than to protect BT's monopoly. Still the lines need to be paid for somehow so i'd consider your useless analogue line like a TV licence.
They should definitely do a cheap no calls package with the analogue turned off totally - heck I though Ofcom was on our side but being reasonable without this line tax where would it leave BT.
The line still needs to be maintained, if they did provide a line for just ADSL and no phone service the cost saving would be tiny, you might as well pay the 50 or so pence extra and have the phone service. It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0 -
