Hello.
I cancelled my HD subs as i got it free for 12 months when i upgraded to sky + HD.
I gave them 30 days notice in October and it will finish 24 November.
Sunday,Monday and Tuesday i was getting missed calls from a number so i checked who it was and it was Sky.
Last night they ring again and say they are from sky and wanted to know why i had cancelled and i told them i was cutting down my outgoings and then he asked if i had multiroom and i said no and he said ok thank you for your time and hung up.
What was the point in ringing me up to ask me this because when i cancelled i explained all this to them.0 -
Got a call from Sky last night at 8.50pm. Wanted to know why I was leaving and if I had been offered any deals to stay. Told her what had happened when I rung to leave, she asked would I be interested in staying if a better deal could be offered. I said maybe, but when I told her what I was getting from Virgin she said they could not match it, so I said goodbye and asked her to remove me from their call list. Even if they had given me 50% off it was still not as good as the Virgin deal.:pB&SC No. 298

Hi, unless Virgin has changed since we left them last year, the box is not your property.
If you cancel with Virgin they will come to collect box/boxes.
If you are with Sky you own the box after 12 months you can do as you wish with it.0 -
I'm waiting to hear from Sky having rung up and we're getting free line rental for 12 months by the sounds of it, saving me £127.50 over the next year! Some technical error means it can't be applied right this second, so fingers crossed someone is meant to be sorting it out.
Some relief as I'm expecting my redundancy notice by the end of the month.
Obsessing about remortgaging and interest rates all day, every day:)0 -
Just got off the phone with Sky.
I played dumb by saying that I needed to cut costs, at first the lady didn't ball at all, so lots of long uncomfortable silences.
The lady was then saying that I could downgrade my channel package from "Entertainment Plus" to Entertainment. But I kept saying that I only really watch documentaries anyway and would probably be better off getting freeview if I was to loose the documentary channels.
More uncomfortable silences and then I made a slight mention of the word "cancel" and viola... she offered me 12 months free telephone line rental (I'm currently paying £12.25 per month) so I went for it.
Then I asked about replacing my dodgy router (I have to reboot it regularly). They put me through to broadband technical help who said it would be £30 to replace the router as my current one is out of warranty. I said that I wasn't happy with that and that I feel cornered because I'm stuck with Sky equipment (as per their T&Cs) and have no other options but to cancel broadband. Then got transferred back to cancellations.
Played the sweet and innocent card with them again and they offered me a free replacement router straight away.
So all in all, about 30 minutes of phone calls (free as well as I have sky talk) and I've got a new router and saved £147 line rental.
I'm happy. Now gonna wait a few days for the free line rental to come on to my account and then try and go for an upgrade deal to sky HD using topcashback.

Hi I am on a "rolling contract " with Virgin M tv M broadband and free phone calls 24/7 I pay £24 pm including line rental I want a Tivo box or an HD box Virgin say I must sign a 12 month contract and up my tv package to at least m+ and pay activation fee of £49.50. My bill would increase substantially if I do this any ideas
Thanks Giffer0 -
I've been sent an offer by Virgin to switch from Sky to their new TiVo service. It does look like a wonderful deal. Free TiVo box installation & activation and a bundle of 160 channels, (XL) 10Mb broadband (L) & phone (M) all for £41 a month.
But Virgin do talk the talk and I switched from them to Sky a few years ago when Sky & Virgin fell out and I could not watch my favourite programmes.
I currently pay £52 for Sky World (including Sky Sports and Movies) and £15 with Pipex (soon to be Talk Talk) including land line (this will go up to £22 in November). My contract runs out in March.
On paper, it looks good to switch to the Virgin bundle, but, to be honest, I am happy with Sky. Never had a problem with Customer service and when my Sky+ box broke, it was replaced quickly.
I am definitely thinking of switching broadband when the contract runs out. But should I go for this Virgin Bundle? There's a little voice telling me that it's too good to be true and there's a catch.
Well I followed the link you are ware this deal is exclusive of sports and movies and sky sports and movies in HD ( add another 29.50) for sports and movies and 7 pounds for 2 sports and 8 movie channels0 -
I'm happy with my Freeview tv box (BIG hard drive!) - except for lack of cricket. And now the Beeb won't have full F1 coverage in future...
Any ideas please about the cheapest way to get some sports coverage without buying too many unwanted extra channels. Don't really want to switch phone and BB from my current BT & Plusnet deals as they are excellent value.Once it's gone, it's gone - so remember...
Pay for the things you need before you dream about the stuff you want :think:0 -
