You are paying the going rate .

You can pay for 12 months line rental up from for £119.40.
You could cancel the entertainment extra pack and save £5/month.
There are now only two packs, check the details on the Sky website.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
  • I have been on half price with Sky for about 2 years now, noticed it ended last month and just phoned up to cancel and have 25% off for the next 12 months with no contract :-)
  • Can any of the children's/entertainment channels be viewed online on a PAYG basis? That strikes me as a huge potential saving.

If so, cancel your Sky sub and revert to a !!!!!! service-you'll still get all the FTA channels.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

I've tried to have a look but I can only see offers for new customers. I was horrified to see my sister is paying nearly £90 a month on sky. I thought if you had tv and broadband you got the internet and sky talk for free or at least at a reduced rate. I've had a look at her account for her cos she's clueless with haggling the price down etc. She is paying £55.00 sky tv (entertainment pack with sports HD), sky broadband £7.50 and Sky Talk freetime (she has her line rental with Sky as well). I would have thought if she had all this she would have at least got sky talk unlimited for free. I am sure in the past they have offered me a reduced rate if I take all their packages.

sherbie28, did you or your sister get anywhere with reducing her costs ? I've just come to the end of a very good 12 month introductory offer and now am paying approx £90/month. Apart from Sky Movies which I didn't want, I've got ...

    Sports
    Sky+ HD
    Multi-room
    Broadband Unlimited
    Sky Talk Freetime
    Sky telephone line rental

Sounds like there might be some mileage ringing Sky. I'm only one customer all said and done, but they'd be throwing away over a £1k a year if I went elsewhere.

Thanks everyone, i did a price comparison and its actually the cheapest in my area.. so well done sky! must stop using the home phone and use my free minutes on mobile :)
  • and get a Freeview recorder (assuming you have reasonable Freeview coverage).

Many less channels but much less cost.

It's fairly obvious, but if you feel money is short, Sky is one of the more "optional" expenses.

If you stop subscribing to Sky TV, the card will revert to Freesat from Sky, which gives a similar range of channels to freeview.
If you want to record programmes you can pay Sky £10/month to retain the Sky + features.
Alternatively buy a Freesat PVR, which uses your existing dish, so no need to fix/upgrade the aerial.

Bear in mind that if you stop Sky TV but keep the braodband and talk the cost will increase by £2.50/month.

    Decisions decisions!
