If a virgin contract in oh's name was cancelled and then restarted in my name would I be classed as a new customer?

The people in my local VM shop said yes to this point. A new customer is somebody else, same address is OK as you could have moved into a house where the previous tenant was a VM customer. To be a new customer under the same name you need a period of 3 months between disconnection and renewal.

I've recently knocked off my sky sports package to get my TV down to £39.50 a month. Didn't really want to pay that so rang Sky to 'threaten to leave' and they gave me 25% off for a year and I can still cancel when I want

    Hello.
I've been with Virgin for a couple of years and want a Tivo box.
I have the old standard box, not V+
I asked about this, to be told i had to pay £49.95 instalation fee.
I mentioned I had heard some customers had got it for free - "no, you have to pay"
    Very unfair to loyal customers.

Any tips please what to say when I ring disconnections?
I will go to Sky and get a full new set up if they don't give me something.

I will just keep the broadband and ditch the TV

I also don't have a phoneline, as I asked them to switch it off, as I couldn't afford the bills.
I asked how to get it put back on again, to be told, "49.99 for the engineer to come and switch it back on"

No one came and switched it off in the first place! Why can't they "undo" what they did to cut it off?

    And thanks for any replies!
  • Good morning all,
Just been reading the threads regarding getting deals with Sky, BT vision, Virgin etc etc. Everybody seems to have had different levels of success, which brings me to my question.
I currently pay £67 per month for Sky (Sky+HD, Multiroom, Skysports, plus packages)plus £30 per month for phone and broadband with TalkTalk. Is there a good cheaper option out there? Im currently paying, probably like a great deal of other people, around £100 per month on tv, phone and broadband!!!!!!
Is it still worth "bargain" hunting with Sky by threatening to leave?
Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas, they would be greatfully received thank you:)

Here is some free advice and honest advice look at simplfy digital re deals look at call costs as well with VM TWICE AS MUCH AS OTHER PROVIDERS LOOK AT WHAT YOU WATCH-- oh yes and forget all the BS re lying the agents are all well trained and experianced TRY AND BE HONEST you maybe supprised oh yes and remember deals dont last for ever and it is NOT your right to get one
  • I just rang sky and was offered 25% off but only if I keep the movies on. I have sports and movies as add ons but recently joined lovefilm so dont need the movies now and he wouldnt do it and give a discount so I have cancelled. I have to pay for the broadband and phone still as I moved house in May so I am in two minds whether or not to bother with skyy o virgin. I am not asking for all of it for nothing, but I dont think the bill is worth £60 a month(and that is with a discount on).
Will they bother ringing me to try and keep me before the 31 days is up or just leave me to go?

  • Just run Sky up as we are on a serious moneysaving drive...

Currently have their full entertainment package with sport and movies for £52.00 Broadband and talk for £19.75.

Tried to haggle down the price even went through to retentions who said we have no offers on our account and the only thing we can do if strip out the movies and sport reducing the TV to £24.50.

    Great!!!

As we are on a money saving mission we are not going out, so telling my husband that he cant watch his beloved football match he will then have to go to the pub to watch it, which would mean more money...

    Rubbish
    :dance:My third challenge.. May £10 a day
    So far.....£ - £310:dance:
    :eek:Unsecured loans = £9,000, Credit cards = £7,000, Catalogues = £668:eek:
:jMaking huge life changes... any support would be wonderful :happyhear
