With Sky for 17 years, we decided pricing was getting high and decided to leave looking at BT - Sky came back gave us half price deal for 10 mths at £48 which finished Nov 12.

With Xmas it was Feb 2016 when fully saw the new price of £98, so cancelled at once, then on MSE read that they make offer to you on My Sky and a 50% offer for 12mths on exsisting package was there so went for it.

Naturally thought 50% of £98 would get us down to £49 but so far the monthly amount has ranged from £45 to £64,and £79.
So a word of caution - 50% means nothing to Sky and trying to explain well I have less hair by the day, despite an email from Sky clearing saying we had received the 50% offer for 12 mths.

If anyone can shed any light on the ups and downs and has direct number to complain would be grateful

Box office purchases, Buy & Keep, phone calls? Your bills will break down what all the charges are for. What do they say for the months in question?

Was the 50% on just the TV? Quite often they will exclude multi-screen or the HD pack from the discount by default.

    Only have Sky TV

I looked at bill via account on tv and there are no extra charges for box office etc. on any of the months. Looked right back and the old package was always just under £50 every month, then went to just under £100 till got 50% offer in March 2016

The deal was to have my previous package at 50% reduction, as the price was just under £100 thought 50% would half it, it clearly has not.

The confirmation email from sky says clearly 50% of your current package for 12 months.

@Vegastare - I accepted a 60% off offer last October BUT I was clearly told that it excluded the HD Pack -also they wouldn't negotiate at all on discounting multiscreen as I was thinking of putting my old Sky+ box in a bedroom.
EDIT -removed info as posting at the same time!!

£79 when the full price is £98,ie a reduction of £19,suggests half price on the Family bundle, but nothing on Sports, Movies or multiroom.

    My 50% of £92 came to £58!

    It was £68 - £34 = £34 + £24 = £58. The £24 is for multiscreen and HD pack which they don't seem to like discounting.

So I got 50% of my Variety, Movies & Sports viewing package, but nothing off multiscreen/HD pack, which is what I was expecting from reading earlier posts.

My Virgin bill has just gone up by £15/month. When I queried it I was told I'd been on a special offer, which had run out. I read the bit on here about haggling, so phoned them to get a MAC code and be put through to retentions. I was told by two people (one customer services, one technical) that a MAC wasn't available from Virgin. When I read them the blurb from MSE about getting a MAC code without hassle I was put on hold for 20 minutes. Anyone got any tips on dealing with Virgin?

    There is no MAC code.
If you change provider then they don't use the VM infrastructure.
Sort out what you want in a package, price it with Sky.
Then see what VM can offer.

Having found my correspondence e mail from sky it states

thank you for deciding to stay with us, we have now processed your order to keep your existing Sky TV bundle with 50%off for next 12mths

Surely I am in the right - def taking it further. Package was HD movies sport and multiroom this was £49 when they came back with offer.

    Thanks
