If you read the thread you'll see you are better off not blinking first in this game.
Allowing the cancellation to go through and waiting for them brings best rewards.
Totally agree."There are not enough superlatives in the English language to describe a 'Princess Coronation' locomotive in full cry. We shall never see their like again". O S Nock0 -
Hi
Just after a bit of advice before contacting sky.
We are out of contract with them and move house in a months time.
I was planning on calling to say I want to cancel but as we will be moving in our notice period will still want them to come out and set it up at the new house. Will they do this?
Also we think the above will put us in a good position to get a deal, and plan to reject what they offer on the phone and wait for them to call us.
Thanks0 -
My 60% deal runs out on 2nd May... I gave early notice on 15 March (as I couldnt remember the details and thought my multiroom part was out of sync, and wanted to be sure I wasnt late). Had a call the next day offering 50% for 10 months, but running from that very day, so decided to decline. No more calls or offers yet. I did get a strange letter saying my sub wouldnt be increasin this year, so looking at the billing online and saw bills for £79 in the pipeline. Called them, rather worried, but some strange credits which neither I nor the guy understood, which meant the usual £39.50 wasn't taken in March. So I think I just have to sit tight and see what happens. Last year, I saw a decent offer on my online account immediately after the cut off and accepted that, so hoping the same will happen this year. Have to say I was a little surprised not to receive a call right at the end of March, at the end of the quarter.0

I'm not sure they would, certainly not for free. After all, why would they? They know, like you, that the contract is coming up for renewal so they would probably want to tie you in for another contract or at least charge you for installation.
Happy to be proved wrong, mind.0 -

My advice would be - tell them you are moving & want a dish in your new home (You take the sky+ box with you) Then, the day after it is installed, call to serve your 30 days notice.0 -
Does this new price include the imminent Sky price increase which is happening in June?0

Hiya all
Last year I managed to get 75% discount (read my last year’s posts no 5431 & 5636 on pages 272 & 282 on this thread) which sadly ended.
This year I also gave Sky my 31 days’ notice. Straight away I was offered 15% discount but declined their ‘kind’ offer.
Whilst my notice of cancellation was in notice period I checked ‘my account’ a few days later. On the page now it was showing 35% discount. It also showed if I wanted to ‘chat’ so I took the opportunity to chat.
After going through the security etc. I was offered 50% discount. I said very politely that I simply could not afford it. I said ‘a friend’ was offered 60% discount + £100 credit in his account and if he could match that offer I can agree on a new deal. He said the best deal showing for ‘my account’ was 50% discount. So he said that 50% discount is all he could offer.
I declined the offer and let the notice period end and my Sky was switched off at midnight on the day. Within a few hours I logged on again on ‘my account’ and now it was showing ‘come back and get 50% discount’. As you can see the discount gradually went up from 15% to 35% to 50%.
Again I decided to take the option for an ‘online chat’ with the Indian call centre. After the usual security check-up a very nice Indian guy came and said he could now offer me 50% discount. I said that ‘my friend’ was offered 60% discount + £120 account credit. He said he can only agree for 60% discount + £100 account credit. Again I said I could not afford it. After a bit of dillydallying and checking up with his supervisor he agreed to 60% discount + £120 credit in my account.
Please note: At all times be extremely polite to the Indian call centre staff as they will try to ‘accommodate’ you as they are the last line of Sky’s Retention team. Also perseverance always pays off.
Best of luck for your new contract0 -
Only bit of post above I would disagree with (Unless changed), is that the retention team is 100% in England and not outsourced.
Nottingham or Derby if memory serves.0 -
I had a similar scenario to Cobra.
We came to the end of a 75% off deal on Family, Sports, Movies and HD and when we we called to cancel were offered the same pack for around £30 for 10 months but with a 12 month contract so declined.
We didn't receive any calls, just 35% off on MySky and it went off during last week when we were away. Logged back into MySky and saw the usual 50%.
Clicked on the Live Chat and 'spoke' to somebody who I also believed to be abroad, due to both his name and the language he used. At first I was offered 50% off but when I mentioned 60% he 'checked with his boss' and then agreed. I then asked about credit and mentioned £120. He said that he couldn't do that but he could ask about £50. I said that was great but asked him to ask about £100, which he did, and agreed to it.
So I got the 60% discount and £100 credit which was my aim when started the chat. Cost is now £33.45 (inclusive of increases) which with the £100 credit works out at £25.12 a month.
I'd also recommend being very polite and sounding very grateful for the offers you receive, even if you decline them.0 -
Phone call today from - 01331 387201, it was Sky Retentions at a guess.
A 33 minute chat and I am offered 50% off my bill without a contract, plus a £50 credit on the account.
Still unhappy with this, as I am currently on a 75% off deal. I mentioned that if I can have the same, it will be a base to work from then maybe look into adding more features.
They have arranged to call me back at some point, where the deal offered wont be enough. I don't have enough usage to cover the costs. For me, Now Tv, Netflix or just Freeview/Freesat with PVR is enough for me.
No point having a Freeview HD Tv and not using it.
(You might be able to call the number above, and say "Hi, I had a missed call from this number..." as a starter...)..
Good Luck,
AO0
