Probably a daft question but can I give sky more than 31 days notice, I want to leave sky at the end of May and was going to ring today and ask for it to be switched off on a specific date when the last football match I want to watch will be on? Just thought I would ask before I spent ages trying to get through to be told it has to be 31 days.
Yes, I gave notice 15 March for a contract ending 2 May. Had a call the next day offering 50% for 10 months, without new contract. Declined as I would have been overlapping discount periods. No other call yet.0 -
Did mine today....I was immediately successful! I'm only paying an extra £1 per month when I was on a 75% off deal!
I got out through to cancellations (the phone was answered in seconds, what a treat) and spoke to a really nice Scottish man. I commenced shameless flirting, made girly jokes about the Scottish Premiership (thankyou Google) and then had a quick chat about game of thrones.
I didn't have to fight for it at all, I don't know if I'm just lucky due to my postcode or something, sometimes they have low retention areas. I'm on the deal for ten months and the final two months goes up but he said I can ring up and renegotiate after ten months.
I'm well happy :-)0 -
^^ What deal though..0

Cheers for the replies above.
Ended up speaking to someone over live chat and have managed to get the same price for the next year without being tied into a contract.
Thanks for the advice.0 -
Rang Sky as I found the costs getting silly. I had last caller barring which I never knew I had. That got removed, saving me £3.50 odd.
Then the sweet guy David, who sounded like my late grandfather gave me free BB for 10 months, LR to £10 a month and the TV side of things for £30 for a year. Saved me about £22.50 a month
As this month's dd will come out next few days, the full payment will come out. In May, it will be £28.90 and June to Jan/Feb, £47.40.

Gave notice 15 March to cancel when contract is up 2 May. Today I have a "come back to sky 50%" offer online. Should I wait longer before contacting them? It has changed from 35% to 50%.0

I left Sky for Virgin just over a week ago.
Today I logged in to my Sky account to check my payments and there was a message offering me 50% off any package if I return0 -

Well, despite all assurances, I discovered we were cut off today, 31 days after giving notice. Not best pleased. That was why I could see 50% offer online to come back to Sky! Used livechat, started with 50% for 12 months, then added £50, then got it to 60% for 10 months, eventually got 60% with 12 mth contract (which I don't mind) and £50. I could not get £100 credit. I decided to accept as it means I don't have to call tomorrow and have the hassle of arguing over the early cut off.
I will be paying £41.10 for Family, Sports, HD, and 1 multiscreen. I didnt need any new equipment as I had two new boxes last year. That is instead of the current £39.50pm, but is less with the credit. No price increase during the 12 months.
Job done for another year, quite happy.0 -
Not so great start for my Aunty.
Box was supposed to be installed yesterday. Arranged at a time when her husband would be there. Supposed to be between 8-1pm. Great. He had to be in work at 3.
Several text messages changing the time, first from 1-4pm then 2-6pm etc.
I called and told them the time was specifically arranged to due to my uncle doing shift work. They said they'd cancel and to call and arrange another installation. Then today at 6 she gets a call from the engineer saying he's at her house and kicking off because there's nobody there.
Thankfully I was with her at the time so explained to him we'd been told it was cancelled and I didn't appreciate his attitude. It's not her fault Sky don't know their arm from their elbow and can't relay simple messages or stick to arranged times.
Will arrange once more and if it doesn't go smoothly then the cancellation can stand. It's not worth the hassle.Sigless0 -
Pffftttt, just called and been offered a measly 5 quid off a month !! :rotfl::rotfl:
Asked to go ahead with the cancellation0
