Sky SEEM to be getting a harder attitiude to "serial" discounters; my s-i-l has recently phoned because his half price multiroom and free movies deals were ending plus he was interested in upgrading to fibre from ADSL becuase his streaming speed is poor.
Absolutely no deal offered on either multiroom or fibre price and they wanted £7 pm for movies -so he's cancelled multiroom & movies and warned them that he will be looking to move his phone and broadband once those current deals finish in June. No call backs yet !!

My Sky TV went off in Dec, Ive had the 35% or something for 5 years offered, plus a 50% offer through the post too!
Also on the phone I had 50% for 10 months + £35 credit!

I called yesterday and managed to get 60% off and £100 credit
Works out just over £10 a month for the Variety + Movies!

Already had Sky Line Rental + Free Broadband with them (Renewed contract in Dec when it was up!)
    Make £10 a day Challenge June - £170

Probably a daft question but can I give sky more than 31 days notice, I want to leave sky at the end of May and was going to ring today and ask for it to be switched off on a specific date when the last football match I want to watch will be on? Just thought I would ask before I spent ages trying to get through to be told it has to be 31 days.

How successful have people been negotiating a discount over the chat app? My sky will turn off Tuesday after my notice period ends and was wondering if it's worth trying to sort something out with them over chat instead of calling them up.

It seems pretty quick and easy to get the 60% + £120 credit via Live Chat at the moment. Go for it!

I have been with Sky for around 13 years (with a one year break) and have the full package which I've been paying approx £72 a month for but the notification of yet another increase has annoyed me.
I tried chat and the agent asked if they could call me, after 30 minutes on the phone they offered me £10/month discount for 10 months on a 1 year contract. When I declined they offered me 20% off for 8 months on a 1 year contract.
I told her that the offers were not close to where they needed to be to make me stay and I requested cancellation.
I will have to wait and see if they come back with a better offer, if not I'll be looking at alternatives.

Why not give them a notice like most of us do to get a better discount? If you need further advice send a pm to me or others who have managed to get a better deal.

Thanks Cobra, I have given them notice and if they do not come back with a suitable offer I will disconnect.
To be honest, I don't really watch much TV that isn't available on Freeview except for the occasional football match and my daughter watches the kids channels so if I lose it, it won't leave a gaping hole in my life :)

50% and £50 credit seems to be the first offer..

The agent kept asking me what i can afford, and what i wanted to pay. They did not want to give there hand away, however they wanted me to tell them how much i would pay and they would lock me in.

I have said no, i shall await the follow up call and press for more....

Finally managed to get my Aunty a decent deal. She asked me to try once more before she got a freesat box at the weekend.

Went through live chat. Tried to get her to keep the old box that doesn't even have sky+ to which I said not a chance.

In the end got a 2tb box, free installation next Wednesday and 50% off for 12 months. So £15 a month. I asked for a refurb box and 60% off but no go.

She was happy with that, she's looking forward to being able to record Masterchef whilst she goes the Bingo haha bless her.

Happy I was able to sort a deal she was happy with. She was genuinely astonished that they were prepared to knock so much off.

Hello all, I was very much after the deal posted above by Rev, or something similar.

My mum has been with Sky 18yrs, no offers, has 2 sky+ boxes, of which one, the cables are loose and so the box has started to play up, called up for her, wouldn't offer me anything, no box, no discount. gave my notice in on 23rd march, will be cut off 23rd april.

35% off for 12 months showing when I login. Got a letter offering 25% off and free hd box and installation. Went onto live chat in the hope for a better offer, like the one above a 2tb box plus install and some money off monthly. Chat advisor completed security then would not entertain the idea I have this letter, basically called me a liar! I kept writing and being very polite, told him I have the mailshot Shy have sent me, in my hand. said nothing was sent to me. I said well as you can't help me I better go and will just leave sky. how odd? wouldn't believe me when I said i have the letter here, the physical letter in my hand!

    any advice appreciated, thanks

Sign into my sky or create a my sky account. You should see an offer in there saying stay with/come back to sky and get 25/35% off with a live chat button next to it. Use that.

I'd just try again. Go through live chat. Tell them you're hoping they can give you a deal that will convince you to stay with sky. Because the offers from cancellations weren't very good.

Be clear at the outset that any deal must include a new box. Don't mention price. Just that a new box is needed and an offer without one will be immediately declined. Then just politely decline every offer until you get the one you want.

They offered me just a free box, I said thanks but the sub is too expensive, then. It was 25%. Again declined. Then 35%. At that point I just said okay well thanks for the help, since that's your best offer please just let the cancellation proceed. He asked me to hold on then said how about a free box and 50% off. I pushed for a refurb and 60% off but no go. My Aunty was happy with 50% off so I accepted it.
