  • My current 6 months half price was coming to an end (been half price for almost a year and a half now), phoned up and said to either carry on at half price for another 6 months or cancel altogether. The guy on the phone said there were no offers on my account, but that he could cancel the account to generate offers, hey presto another 6 months half price!

Only problem I've got is that my billing has gone a bit messed up and trying to charge me twice, phoned up again to sort out, they're going to refund the excess amount and I will get a call back on Tuesday to confirm this has been done (hopefully in time for the direct debit to come out on 23rd).

I would never pay £52 a month, I watch the football and mainly freeview channels anyway so was prepared to go ahead and cancel if need be and watch the footie online :)

I wonder whether your future bills will confirm that verbal offer (£xx.37 is obviously not a standard Sky subscription).

Yes this has been verified on my new bills:j:j

    just to let others know,
I had cancelled sky and was not offered any deal.
They went ahead and process the last payment to be took off my bank.
Sky phoned me up today, day before cut off, and offered 12 months half price, no contract, just have to give 30days notice if I don’t want sky any more.

We just came off half price for 6 months. Rang up again thinking had nothing to lose and pressed for cancellations- simply said we were struggling with the price jumping back up with fuel bills etc (we have the full package and ESPN) and wondered if there was anything that could be done- got offered another 6 months halfprice (ie £25 discount off package - not off the HD and ESPN) with no real issue
Back to comping! July wins: Frylight August wins: Pixar DVD, Diesel Watch,£75 hamper brioche products September wins bath soak

Thanks to everyone who posts comps and help
  • Just moved house and went back with virgin but it has been a nightmare, crossed lines on phone, not been able to take number with me( even though they said i could). Phoned sky today said i could have Sky World pack including talk unlimited and broadband unlimited all sports and tv package for £76.75 + deduction off £70.00 so really paying for 11 months. Told him to phone me back later with the deal as i had to speak to virgin to cancel with my 7 day cancellation perion. When i spoke to retention he said i would never get that deal cause he used to work with sky and that the guy would get his commision and i would be paying the top whack and would have to cancel with sky. Now i dont know what one is lying. Any help ?

Been on same VMpackage for a couple of years with creeping increases (!!):

    Telephone Line Rental £13.90
    Talk International 1.75
    Talk Unlimited £8.00
    Talk Mobile £1.75
Loyalty Pack: Phone, Bband & TV M £18.46
    Free Voicemail £0.00
    V+ HD Monthly Fee £5.00
    Broadband Size: M £21.50
    T V Size: M £0.00

    Total = £33.44

Phoned up to see if I could add SkySports but quoted £25 extra. She said my deal was unbelieveable at present. Is it really that good - particularly think the Broadband price could beless considering the VM website is advertisng BB L at £13.50. Would love to add SkySports for not much more or pay less for what I have

    Or am I just greedy?:)

Haven't had an offer with sky for over a year now so I thought I'd give it a try after receiving the latest offering info from virgin.

Explained what virgin were offering and and they didn't really put much of a fight and gave me 25% off my package for a year. Pleasing when I pay £82 per month. Also got the espn free for 3 months offer!

I've also received my renewal for sky protect which is £95 for a year which I have been paying without challenging. Mentioned the cost to sky representative and he said he wouldn't recommend having it at all because all customers who have £50 and over monthly packages would have their boxes fixed for free if they called up and complained, so that's now been cancelled too!

    A very productive call indeed!
  • Anyone know if Sky do any deals for current customers, we have HD Multiroom and we are thinking of getting movies and maybe sports packages, is there anyone on here thats recently done the same and scored a deal?
