  • I cancelled my Sky TV (still have broadband and phone) in November and it was switched off in December.

Strange thing is I haven't heard a peep from Sky. I've checked my MySky settings and they are all filled out correctly. Any ideas why they haven't been in touch?

I didn't miss the services over Christmas when I was away a lot but would now quite like it back for Sky Sports and the ability to pause and rewind TV.

Should I get in touch with them or would that be a mistake? Any suggestions?
  • You're paying way to much for your service, you need to get it around the £50 mark, retentions will ring you back they can't afford to lose £800 a year from you, read my post above for ideas in negotiating techniques.

Thanks man, that's really helpful, your experience above was very interesting.

By the way, on your second contact, did you call them or did they call you?

When they call you, do they call on your virgin number? Because I actually never used that, I don't even have a phone connected there, I just have the line because of the package.

    Thanks!

i'll start a new thread if not suitable for in here, but does anyone know anything about this offer that seems to be advertised nationally -
one off payment of £249 for 3 years full sky pack

it's in our local paper tonight & someone we know has got it, so it's not just an online scam. how on earth can this be legit? i thought you could only get the all the sky channels from sky direct??

Cancelled sky tv last week, kept bb & phone line. When cancelling was offered free bb for a year but I refused it. Started getting calls from sky this week and answered one today who gave me 50% off tv for ten months which I accepted if I could still get the free bb deal. Ended up getting it so am now paying £54 for all tv channels, hd, bb and phone. Happy enough with that.

Wish I could say the same, I still haven't heard a word from them. Annoying thing is if they offered me 50% off then I'd look at adding Sky Sports and Movies so in effect paying even more than I am now.

Morning all. We currently have Sky. With half price TV , we currently pay about £63 for HD TV , Sports, Phone and crappy 2mb Broadband.

Virgin are doing a good offer of £50 per month for all this , plus BT Sport, Fibre broadband, Movies , and multiroom. Its a 18 month contract, which rises to a max £94 per month after 12 months, but we would drop the movies at least then. The only thing I can see they dont include is HD Sky Sports , which I want
I would prefer not to leave Sky as dont really want the hassle of new cables , and switching broadband, but the offer does seem good.

Just wonder what peoples views of Virgin are ?

    Thanks

Still undecided what to do. The Virgin offer is very good , but Im not keen on having to have new cables installed, Also wifey has said how much her brother hated Virgin TV (tho he isnt techy savvy at all).
If I could wangle a good deal on BT Sport out of Sky I probably wouldnt move TV but they dont seem to make any offers on this ?
Guess we can have it for 18 months, then come back to Sky with an even better deal !

I read this tip on here - and it worked for me..... well, it gives you a good excuse to ring them and thus start the ball rolling.

I just phoned one day saying - Hi, someone from SKY phoned yesterday while I was out. I am just phoning to find out what you wanted?

Then you will tell them you have recently cancelled SKY.... they will presume it was someone from Cancellations/Retentions, then you can say "We really miss SKY. but I just couldn't afford it....."

Then they will start with their offers.
    The offered me 20%
    Later 30%
    Then 35% ....
admittedly these were all when they did actually phone me.
I was playing hard ball and wanted a better offer, but the kids were cracking, so I ended up phoning them.
I gave in (due to pressure from Kids) at 50% off TV and Free BB....

In past I have phoned SKY 2 and 3 times a day (also try different numbers) - amazing how diff staff can come up with diff offers.
In the past I had free SKY TV, and half price phones as lady I was dealing with was V V V sympathetic to my tale of woe....:T

But I think those days are long gone.Although some on here have got some fabulous deals. But you need to be either incredibly lucky or have nerves of steel.

Kids are happy to get it at any price, and I am happy for the nagging to stop.

Are you sure there is nothing showing on Mysky.
Try logging in and double check.
Not the offeres page, log in then click my sky tab at the top, if your meaketing settings are all ticked then you should see an offer there for 35% off if you rejoin Sky with a number to call and an option to start chat.

I tried several times and was offered 50% and 60% which I refused.
Eventually got 60% + £50 bill credit with no contract.
So effectivly 2 months free on full package without HD then £26.40 a month but I can cancel at anytime.

Nop, my offers haven't changed from half price multiscreen or vouchers to refer a friend :( I might try the missed call trick.
