I have just cancelled tv. The so called offer they quoted was more than I was currently paying!! They did offer me free bb meaning £16.40 for phone (which I don't use) and bb for 12 months. I rejected that saying I will be shopping around for cheaper. What's the plan now then folks?? Sit tight for a call?? Tv is due to be cut off 15/2/15.

I got the 35% offer in My Sky within an hour of saying I wanted to cancel. That was Tuesday.

I'm still waiting for the first phone call from them. I will be happy with 50% and maybe getting Movies added too at discount.

Wife has already been in my ear "I won't lose all my recordings will I?", so no way I can let everything actually switch off. :rotfl:

Morning all. We currently have Sky. With half price TV , we currently pay about £63 for HD TV , Sports, Phone and crappy 2mb Broadband.

Virgin are doing a good offer of £50 per month for all this , plus BT Sport, Fibre broadband, Movies , and multiroom. Its a 18 month contract, which rises to a max £94 per month after 12 months, but we would drop the movies at least then.

I am going to call Sky to see what I can haggle out of them - telling them Im going otherwise.
I would prefer not to leave Sky as dont really want the hassle of new cables , and switching broadband, but the offer does seem good.

Just wonder what peoples views of Virgin are ?

And if you move broadband / tv , do you end up being without it for a number of days ?
    Thanks

    Looking for some advice.
I cancelled on 03 Jan and a couple of days later got a phone call offering a meagre £10/m off (typically £80/m bill). Politely declined and told them that they have to come in at the £50/m level for me to make it work for me.

Get your partner to sign up to Sky BB, its £16.40 with 12 months FREE BB, plus £50 M&S, plus Quidco etc.

Then... the Sky phone calls come..

That's the exact same offer I am eyeing for Virgin, having sacked Sky off yesterday. I was paying £95 or so for all TV with movies only, phone and around about 4mb broadband (with frequent drops down to 0.2mb). Having had a couple of discussions with Sky, and been offered a measly £10 monthly discount as well as cancellation of my HD sub to save some more money, I said no and pulled the plug. No offers are in My Sky yet and not had any calls yet. But I need to sort something out in advance of my cut off date of 14/02, or else my family will probably disown me!

Few mins into cancellation MySky shows 35% off, was going to accept but thought I'll wait till the end of notice period if I get better offer.

Today (3 days into notice period) get a call from Sky offering 50% off 12 months no contract! I accepted.

So from paying £33 now to £16.50.
Whereabouts in MySky are these offers presented?

Perhaps I'm being thick but the Find your offers link on the MySky homepage isn't offering anything despite me cancelling 8 days ago. Sky have called with offers to retain my custom just not offered enough yet!

They aren't listed under the my offers page for me, just on the front page as soon as you log into My Sky.

Thanks. I haven't been offered anything on the front page :(

However, I think I may have figured out a way to do even better - albeit with a few days loss of service...

If my wife, who kept her maiden name, signs up as a new customer then going through topcashback then we should be paying significantly less. Even if the cahback didn't pay out we'd pay less than I'd been offered over the phone.

Anyone see any reason not to do this?

    Hi All,

I've also put in cancellation notice for TV few weeks ago, due to be switched off at the end of the month. No offers yet from Sky but prepared for it to be cancelled and wait for contact with Sky with better offers as other have said happened to them.

Does anyone know if when a tv subscription has ended:
    - Does the Sky+ box effectively become a Freesat box?
    - Is there still access to be recorded programs on the box, i assume not.
    - If reconnected are those recorded programs then available again or is the hard drive formatted?

    Thanks

Yes, it becomes a freesat box.

No, the recorded programs will stop working.

With regards to reconnection, I'm not too sure. I would doubt it. They don't usually make it easy.

To answer your questions - Yes, No & yes.
You dont need to wait for it to disconnect to get an offer.
Log into Mysky. go to my settings. Make sure all the boxes are ticked for marketing for user and household.
Click mysky again and should see an offer of 35% off to stay. Go into live chat and see what else you can negotiate.
I was offered 60% off for 10 months but said no. Want the same 75% discount I currently have or 60% with bill credits to bring the price doen to £20 or under for full TV package (I currently pay £16.50), otherwise I will just switch on my youview box and use that for recording until Sky offer me what I'm after.
