I rang to opt out of 1571 a couple of days after taking up my line, as the time allowed before the message kicks in is too short and not adjustable. Family were complaining that, as I can't always get to the phone quickly, they were wasting a call.

I've just logged into My Sky and notice that my tv, has now disappeared from my services list (and is off air). However, there are no offers on the opening page and the offers link says they are unable to make any offers online, but call to the 03 number for information.

I'm wondering what the Scottish call centre person, I cancelled with, wrote on my account, as when I rang to check something he said (and spoke to another person there) was told that ex-O2 people would not be given offers.

Just skimming through the freebie channels still available, I notice that Dave and Quest, both my husband's favourites, are not included, so I'm off to dust the Freeview Humax box and won't be buying a Freesat one.

I'm going to speak (probably via chat)about my line/bb later this afternoon.

Thats the same for me as my TV has been switched off for the past 6 months.

I wouldnt worry about it as you will soon get the 50% off letters and phone calls arriving. They leave you to sweat a bit, then send the letter then follow that up with a call to see if you have got the letter.

If you ignore them then the cycle repeats itself a good fee times before they give up.

Unless it's a brilliant offer, I am not concerned about a tv offer, but do want a good bb/phone one.

Talk talk are offering line rental saver, calls at £5 and bb averaging £2.63/month, totalling £21.98, but factoring in the £100 gift card this comes down to £11.65. (There is also a Topcashback offer of £90.90, which I have queried with them, as the same bb/phone installation is also listed as £15.15 on the same page. I thought the £90 was a misprint as ll other Talk Talk £90 offers include tv)

PS Topcashback have confirmed that £90.90 is correct, but that makes the package just £4.08 a month, which makes me still unsure.

I just rang Talk Talk to ask them, as they reimburse TCB and the Asian sounding man said they could not comment. (After battling for 5 minutes with their automated answering system, which would not recognize my question, until said 'enquiry'. It constantly cycled , giving examples of what questions I'm allowed to ask)
  • Hi,

I renewed my sky package last year - Sky Family+, line rental and broadband). We were offered discounted line rental and free broadband for the contract. We then opted to take out multi room for £2.50 p/m in Jan14. I have called Sky approx. 5/6 times this year to dispute our bill as they were overcharging us (charging £10 for Sky+!!!). Eventually this was rectified by a lovely gentleman on Thursday. He advised us to contact retentions as our deals were expiring.
Friday evening and the not so lovely gentleman informed me he could do nothing because we were in a new contract due to our multi room!!! This was not explained to us at the time.

Anyway I spoke to a lady today and she actually took the time to explain our account in full. She then said we were ok to renew our package due to the problems we have had.

However, the offers the gave us were simply ridiculous. 10 month offer for a 12 month contract??? Since when is that a good deal? We were offered some small discounts on our services but that still meant we were paying more than we are now! I have simply gave our notice to cancel as they seem more interested in new customers.....well it will cost them more to come out and fit a new dish and two new boxes if I were to become the 'new customer' as everything is currently in my wife's name....surely?

An example of a good offer is our friends deal......Sky Family+, line rental, BB, Movies AND Sports all for £51 p/m. They have had the exact same offer for the past three years.

Why is it so difficult for Sky to look after loyal customers?

I apologise for the little rant but I am very frustrated with the customer service and loyalty.

On the plus side it is the weekend :-)

You will find that you won't be able to do that as your address and surname is the same as that of your wife's. The "new customer" discounts are per household, not per person.

It's not just Sky - most providers are exactly the same.

Cancel and wait on the offers.

Possibly not ...aren't you still in the new 12 month contract term? If so, they are going to sting you for a chunk of money when the TV goes off:(

I've got one of the old Sky boxes and been a customer for seven years but they won't give me a new box for free. £60 plus £5 per month extra. They wouldn't offer me anything and said if I cancel, it will be a year before I can come back.
I really want to leave them now but Virgin Media isn't available so that leaves BT and Talk Talk. Any other alternatives? I'd like Gold and Comedy Central but that about it.

Cancel. You can always change your mind if they don't make you an offer before it goes off. I'd rec that you cancel and leave it off for a little while. When they finally call you to re-up, explain that you need the new 2tb box for free and see what they say. Try to bag at least 50% off while your at it.

Could this be why there were no other offers for you as you would have got that one by default if you kept the service?

    Just a though
