    Thanks mate.

I quoted that deal and got the 12 months free line rental and £7.50 a month for BB. They were offering me £15.40 a month + £3.75 BB....
Line rental will soon be £16.40, as that is being quoted in their ads .

he offered me free line rental, and £2.50 off BB when/if my tv is turned off, so it's £7.50 for 12 months instead of £25.40!

Is this correct, as they charge £2.50 more, not less, when you no longer take tv ? Would it not be £7.50, then £10 after tv goes off ?

(I know this no longer applies as you have renewed tv)

Yes this is correct. He said because my BB would go up by £2.50 when my tv was cancelled, he'd put a note on my account to take off £2.50 once it did go up, so it would remain at £7.50 once tv went off. If that makes sense.

Yes, but you'll never know if the promise would have been kept, as you have renewed your tv anyway.

I cancelled my whole Sky package in August as my bills were approx £60 a month for Variety with HD pack, unlimited broadband and Sky talk. After cancellation had gone through I was quickly called by the retention department and they offered £20.37 a month for Variety with HD which was the same channels I had before and I was happy with that, but the guy said he couldn't offer any deals on broadband/talk as that was dealt with by another department.

So I signed up again with the TV and awaited a call with an offer for the Talk and broadband which never came, so those services were cancelled in September. I've now been a month without broadband or phone line so I called Sky to see what's their best offer now and they said £3.25 a month for broadband plus £15.40 a month line rental, with no option to pay line rental up front. I declined this offer, having now researched alternatives.

For me the best deal is currently Plusnet unlimited broadband for £2.50 a month for 12 months plus £15.95 line rental or less if you pay 12 months line rental up front, with £100 Quidco cashback.
However, I've now seen 2 people on here get Sky broadband for £7.50 a month with free line rental for a year which I think i'd prefer as I've read mixed reviews of Plusnet and my Sky broadband was generally good. I may try Sky again tomorrow just to confirm there's no better deal they can offer.
  • I can confirm I got from sky. I got free broadband and upfront line rental. I cancelled my sky tv in September and did not renew.

Don't forget it'll be £17.40 for existing customers unless you opt out of 1571 voicemail which they now charge £1 for

It looks like that will apply from Dec 1. Is there a way to remove it from your account online?
