You'll just be cancelling one Multi-Screen box, so saving will be limited to £11.25 a month unless you also cancel Movies and Sport etc.

Why? Web Chat is listed as a method of cancellation.

I can confirm that they took my cancellation via webchat last week -mind you, I had to stay on chat for nearly 90 minutes before she would action the cancellation:rotfl:

Had a missed call from Sky today.
If they offer me 60% plus £100 credit as others have been offered, I think I'd take it. I've accepted that I may lose it altogether, and that's fine, but with a deal like that I'd be very very tempted.
    Hopefully they call again.

Moving from Sky to Virgin. I was going to buy VirginM online through a cashback site, but today a rep came to my house and offered me the following.

    £50.99pm 12mths £60.99 for 6mths.
Big kahuna + extra box upstairs + free Netflix for 6mths + Free installation + £100 voucher + £50 credit off my first bill.

I'm in a newly cabled area, and thought this was good so have signed up.

I hope you got all that confirmed in writing. Plenty of horror stories on here of reps telling people what they want to hear to sign up! Hopefully that's not the case with you.

Did the rep say you were in a newly cabled area? I thought they had stopped cabling new areas a long time ago and didn't have any plans to expand.

Obviously we have no way of knowing where the poster concerned is located, but Virgin do still cable up new build properties in existing Virgin areas. Certainly, though, they aren't planning any expansion into other areas-they are still £BILLIONs in debt due to the costs of cabling the areas they do serve.

Thanks, yes I got everything written on a 'residential customer service agreement'.
It is definitely newly cabled as they have been digging trenches for the last two weeks, and the rep confirmed it was for cable services.

I rang Sky today to give in my 30 days notice as they said they couldn't give me the one off line rental up front payment of £140 for the year which I got last year.

I rang up the post office and was offered £120 up front line rental for the year and for an extra £1.50 a month to get free evening and weekend calls as the basic package only offered weekend calls. I accepted and within 5 minutes sky had sent me a text saying their cutting my Fibre. So I would have to pay an early cancellation fee etc etc. I was in shock as I only requested the line rental.

I rang sky and they acknowledged that I can leave as I'm not in a contract with them for the line, but they were cutting my fibre because "They say the fibre is only stable with their line rental". What a load of rubbish. BT owns all the lines and all companies rent from them.

So I said I'm giving notice on all produces I have with them as I call that Blackmail. (If the post office offered fibre I would go with them).

The lady then started the negotiations which resulted in a 30 minute call. I must admit I didn't speak and when she made the first offers she dropped them within seconds as I didn't respond.

Anyway this is what I got in the end, so yes I saved money.

Variety bundle plus movies £22.25 a month
    Multiroom £5.62 a month
Sky fibre unlimited £5 a month
Sky talk anytime £5 a month
Line rental £140 one off upfront fee.

Amazing how they could offer me the line rental upfront payment after all.......
It's better to regret something I did do than to regret something that I didn’t. :EasterBun

My SKY contract it due to finish in a few weeks and so is my discount. I have tried twice now to haggle a good deal out of them and both times they seemed happy to let me go.

I am not sure why! I am no stranger to haggling, am very polite on the phone and dont push my luck but for some reason SKY just dont seem interested. The one person even said so you are only interested in staying with SKY if you an offer. I am tempted now to just give my 31 days notice and actually look elsewhere.

    Any advice or suggestions please.

They have been adamant that they are not offering line rental up front, even on the Sky website. However, some people have paid up front, then been charged monthly as well, followed by a refund of the up front payment, insisting that it was taken in error..so beware.
