Yes. You better to get a MAC Code from Sky to move to another provide so you can avoid getting stung by those fees!

Oh shiz. Ok thanks man. Better get onto Virgin soon.

Well I complained via online chat about the £1.50 price rise which ive had every year for the last 3 years, and they offered me 10% off my TV bill (no contract) so £3.10 off my September family bundle price of £31. Took that for now as in October my Phone and broadband are up for renegotiation, and knowing that Sky no longer let you pay line rental upfront, I will be surfing off to EE if we can't move on the £15.40 line rental price.
  • Called Sky this evening to discuss package. Currently on variety pack (£63), broadband £7.50 and line rental £7.70 (half price till november). Was considering switching to free broadband but didn't want to sign up to new contract. Best other offer I could find was Plusnet £11 pcm for BB/Line rental for 12 months. Was offered free broadband and line rental £9.99 for 12mths with 18mth contract.
Previously I was able to get reasonable discounts (20-25%) on TV packages, but the last couple of times was unsuccessful.
Am considering switching BB/LR away from Sky and possibly rejoin for cheaper in the future and not have all products with Sky. The operator said they weren't offering many deals on TV at present, only up to 10%

Well that is a bare faced lie as they offered me 35 per cent off tv, hd and mutliscreen at 4pm.

we are all telling porkies in this game of bluff.

I find this confusing. Most people, I would expect would prefer not to do without TV and broadband for a couple of days or longer while they wait for a better offer from Sky which may or may not come and would therefore have another supplier in place at the end of the 30 day term.

That will all depend on how much you want a decent discount. For many that are cancelling TV only they can wait a bit to see what comes up. In some cases offers appear within minutes of being cut off.
Are Sky really going to wait until after the 30 day cancellation to offer me a new deal?? Hope not because by that time I will have almost definitely have a Virgin engineer out at the house digging up the garden to install the cable! I'm not going to go through all that to then cancel it all to stay with Sky.

You may possibly get some sort of offer but it will not be that much. It's up to you whether to take it or go to Virgin.
Surely this is not how Sky operate and if so they surely lose a lot of custom...

Sky have been playing this game for a long while. To get a serious discount you have to be serious and be able to go through with it.

It's a similar picture with Virgin. You had to cancel to get decent deals although they did tend to call you not long after you cancelled.

Sky's 50% off offers are usually just 50% off the TV subs, excluding any extras like Multiscreen, HD Pack, or Go Extra.

And this is exactly what Sky are banking on. People losing their nerve as they don't think they can cope without the TV so they cancel the cancellation, or accept a lower offer.

My TV went off 6 weeks ago, and since then I've had 2 letters, 3 emails and numerous phone calls with offers to come back. Last call I had the offer was 60% off , but I've not really missed having it at all so I declined. I might change my mind come the football season but until then I'm happy to live without it!

As said over and over on this thread, the best deals are offered only after the cancellation takes effect. Filling in the survey will have minimal affect on what you are eventually offered.
