Quick question. Cancelled Sky TV. Goes off in a few days. Happy to let that happen. However Sky has offered me a deal on broadband.
Question being should I take that deal on the broadband can this effect future potential offers on TV services thereafter? I understand that that Sky can only process one discount on a customers account at one time. Any advice would be gratefully received, thanks.0 -

The problem with accepting an offer on broadband is it restarts your phone / broadband 12 month contract
You can have a deal on tv / bb at the same time but I guess the reason I haven't heard a peep out of sky since cancelling my service in November. I had a free for 6 months fibre offer on my account at the same time as having free sky/ sports and movies for 6 months. When I called to cancel my tv service, I wasn't able to keep that offer and had to restart my bb/ phone contract with a half price for 12 months deal.
It's annoying not having sky tv anymore but it's not as bad as I thought it would be, at least the kids don't bother with the tv anymore so I get peace from them bickering over what to watch! The worst thing is lack of record/ pause function, oh well, it's not the end of the world.

been with virgin for nearly two years and their customer service is shocking and i feel like im being ripped off beyond belief. i wrote a big ranty letter saying i want to leave them and today they called me saying that the best offer they can give me is 5 quid off my bill each month - but, wait for it, here is the maths.....
(1) i currently pay 63 quid a month, (2) next month my bill will go up to 68 quid a month due to the price increase (3) they will give me a 5 quid discount on this so i would only have to pay 63 quid a month ;/ erm......NO THANKS!!!! cheeky cheeky firm!!!
needless to say i have cancelled with them and signed up with the same deal with sky, (the broadband, the tv package and the phone/line rental) and for twelve months this is 39 quid a month and then goes up to 49 quid a month after that, so all in all, a fab saving. on top of this, i get a 25 quid marks and spencer voucher and i will be saving my friend money on their sky bill with the recommend a friend deal. i will never use virgin again.debt free wannabe (or at least half my current debts!) by july 2015...very - 950.00
rbs loan - 6,800.00
barclaycard - 5,580.00
capital one - 1,700.00  scary stuff, but im determined to be frugal and pay off my debts xxx0 -
Just an odd update.
Sky went off end November.
Phonecalls 27th December resulted in instant switch on at 75% discount for 12 months & £100 credit. No contract. I have posted this previously.
Account is correct and have had all the letters.
Strangely this morning I receive a letter and flyer inviting me to rejoin sky !!!
It is a glossy so must be 1000s printed. Deadline is Jan 31st. Discount is 50% for 12 months and you must take a new contract.
How weird is this !!!
It would suggest however that probably anyone who is disconnected can probably call and say they have had this flyer. It has no particular code to quote.0 -

We had the same, the 50% flier arrived in the post the same day the 75% off phone call came.0 -

The reason being is that I'm out of contract - so I'm wondering whether it's better to just cancel, not giving them my new address and rejoining on a new contract, or just speak to retentions?0 -

You could phone to cancel and state that you are moving home and other suppliers are offering better deals for new customers - new equipment, better bundles, cheaper etc
If you just phone up and say you want a better deal with nothing to use as a comparison then you dont tend to get too far. And if it fails to get a deal then put in the cancellation.0
