Called Sky today - 08000963624 - was previously paying approx 75% discounted £27.50 pm (now up to £64.25) for Entertainment/Sports/HD/Skygo Extra.

No broadband or phone thru Sky and been their customer for 11 years (varying levels of cancelation over the last 5 years)

I was initially declined some small 3 month discounts and asked to speak to cancellations. Again initially only offered small 8 month discounts. A couple of clicks later and a change in wind direction produced 50% off for a year. The woman seemed genuinely surprised the discount existed (or was a good actor). I accepted the price at £39.75 for what I'd previously been getting even though I'm fairly sure a cancellation would have led to a bigger discount. Reasonably happy for 15 minutes chatting and not wanting to go the extra hassle cancellation route.

If I ring to cancel, will they offer a lower price for the same package? I'm not interested in bigger package of any type, but do need to keep the BB

They will probably offer something but you need to put in the cancellation to get the best deals.

    Hi,

Cancelled our TV subscription on 12th Dec, also have bb and phone but keeping those for now. So TV due to go off in 7 days and so far I've had one call offering 35% discount which I rejected. Reason I gave for cancelling was money being tight rather than going elsewhere and they initially tried to convince me to just remove channels to reduce costs and then came back with the 35% after I cancelled.

Anyway I do have a question in that if/when it goes off in 7 days will we still be able to watch the programmes we have previously recorded on the box? Have to say that I think not having the sky+ record/rewind facility will not be well received by my wife and 3 year old (peppa pig recordings etc!)so want to be clear what to expect.

As for the discount I'm hoping we don't have to wait months after the box goes off before the call comes but I'd like to get the 75% off so suspect I may have to knock back the 50% and wait a while before it comes - is that the experience of others who have got the 75%??

    Thanks

Well todays the day, sky tv due to go off any time and no call since they offered me 35% discount for 12 months a few weeks ago. We've been mentally preparing ourselves for going "cold turkey" for a while but wonder how long before we get "the call"..

How long has it taken for other people and if you've rejected the 50% offer how long was it before they came back with 75%?

In 2012 it was 3 months, we then got it 100% free for 11 months, this was the only call of any kind we got though after paying full price for 12 years.

This year it was 3 weeks before the 75% offer via a phone call. We did get an email saying come back for 50% off, but that was the same day of the 75% call.

I try not to get too stressed out on the forum. I won't argue, i'll just leave a thread if you don't like what I say. :)
  • Just swithed today from Virgin to Sky, after some haggling got an £80pm deal from sky down to £66. Then rang virgin to give them the chance to better the deal. They said they could match £66 and give me sky movies. I then rang back Sky told them I was cancelling the order.

After a number of free "to and fro" calls in 30 minutes I got the family bundle with:

    Sky 3D (Already have a 3D TV)
    Sky+HD in both rooms
    Sky go extra
    Entertainment extra +
    Sky Movies
    50mb Broadband
    Unlimited Anytime calls
    Line rental
    Wifi hub etc

£20 up front for installation of the fibre optic cables, no other upfront charges.

    £50.40 for 6 months then £66 a month after for 12 months.

Oh and I got £189 cash back on topcashback.co.uk xD

 I wouldn't count on the money from topcashback, they only pay out if the transaction was completed online.

  • Can someone give me some advice on moving house please? So far I've refused to give my new address as I'm presuming that new customer offers will be better than retentions, but any advice would be gratefully appreciated

when trying to get offers from Sky, where you are all saying carry through your cancellation and then wait for them to call back after youve been without it for a while - are you cancelling all services, or just TV? I can live without Sky TV, but not so sure about my broadband.

    Any advice greatfully recieved.

You need to cancel all services, otherwise you haven't cancelled and remain a customer.
Nothing to stop you signing up with another broadband supplier if you can't be without.
