Cancelled Sky on Christmas Eve, got a call from them today offering 50% reduction for 12 months, plus new 2tb HD box. Great deal and much needed.
  • 30 days notice handed to Virgin today. Lets see what happens!

    Great result :j

Bah, I must be sky's most unwanted customer  I gave my 31 days notice on 27th November, no attempt to keep me at all. Sky has been off since December 29 and I haven't heard from them at all

I must keep repeating my mantra I will not cave in no matter how annoying it is not being able to record/pause!

Has anyone just never heard a word from them again?

There has a been a Bank Holiday since then. I'd just be patient, but check your MySky profile just in case. If your marketing preferences are switched to "off", you'll never hear from Sky again.

Currently have Sky Phone and BB, about to go through this as we want Sky TV as well.

I wonder if we can cancel Phone / BB in a hope to have a Phone / BB & TV deal in leiu.?
  • Couple of offers I've found.

    25% off for 12 months.
    digitaltvsignup.co.uk/goto.htm?goto=221

50% off for 6 months (says 25% for 12 months, but when you click buy bundle it gives 50% for 6 months)
    vouchercloud.com/out/offer/283387

    Hope these help.

And if you have caller display to monitor your calls watch out for odd numbers? Our 75% off deal came from a sky office in Derby which nearly threw me, it was an 01332 STD code.

Thanks, I will look out for that!

Do you mind me asking how long you waited before you got the call and if you had any contact from sky during your cancellation period?

  • I noticed a few days ago that my bill was strangely high so checked online to see that my 50% offer had come to an end. So yesterday I called up and put my cancellation in.... same old story as usual, lady went through my package asking what I watch and what I don't all in the hope of convincing me to downgrade my package to make it cheaper..... I was having none of it and stuck to my guns and put the cancellation in...

As I finally stated that I definitely wanted to cancel she came out with the fantastic line.... "just to warn you, because you are rejecting out 25% discount offer, I have to make you aware that if you call back you won't be offered that discount again in future".... LMAO.

Anyway cancellation is now in and it gets switched off on 7th Feb... the stand off now begins and I guarantee I won't be the one to give in..... I can't lose, if they call and offer 50% off then I win, if they don't then I save a shed load of money and may even hold out for the 75% off as well.....

To be honest I watch the football some weekends but its only on in the background, if I miss it then I might get more of the house decorated. Same with the movies, if there is nothing on then we might flick through in the vain hope of finding something but I can't remember the last time we actually planned to sit down and watch one deliberately.... as others have said, it will be the recording / series links that we miss the most...

Think i'll have a word with Mrs LGP tonight and see if we just don't bother getting it back at all.

Can't comment on blisteringblue specifically but generally you could get a call any time during the 31 day notice period (obviously). In my opinion and based on my experiences they (Sky) are much more likely to leave it as late as they possibly can in the hope that you break and call them first... they have nothing to lose in leaving it to the last day and in my experience they often have done just that.

During the cancellation period, again IMHO and experience, you may get any or all of the following:

    1. a letter to confirm your cancellation request
    2. a "sorry you're leaving" questionnaire which I know some people complain / moan on but IMHO doesn't really get you anywhere
    3. a call earlier in the month to try and persuade you to stay (change package or small discount)
    4. the "last ditch" call where in the last few days of the notice period where they will offer the decent (50%) discounts

    HTH.
