Its purely a waiting game. 1st year it took nearly 3 months (it's then you realise you can live without sky) and then we ended up with it all 100% free for 11 months in total. That came to an end in November and their deals were shocking so we gave notice again and it went off. Out came the freesat boxes again but only for 3 weeks !! Currently on 12 months @ 75% off. We will start the whole process again when we give notice at the end of Oct 2014.
thats a great idea... they seem pretty expensive - over £100 - on ebay, but the saving over a year would be around £500 if your strategy works0 -

Just checked my settings. I have never made an alteration.
In Marketing Settings you have the option to click Phone, Email and Post as you're aware.
However look below those three tick boxs as above. The option for email promos etc is auto selected and is seemingly default. I never ticked it...0 -
If you gave Sky a months notice to cancel the tv subscription in the hope of them calling you during the last month with a cheap deal and they didnt call, could you phone them a day before the disconnection date and change your mind?0

When we originally started this game we were paying $ky over £100 a month so an initial outlay wasn't that big a deal.
There are cheap ones like Bush but they are a little temperamental. Humax ones are a little more expensive but just as reliable as a sky box.
Their latest model can be bought for £159 as a graded product (we have one of these and it is great) http://www.humaxdirect.co.uk/product.asp?ProdRef=10208
This is the model with the freetime service (rollback catchup TV)0 -

cheers mate - will keep an eye on them0 -
Contacted Sky today. Only have the basic entertainment package and HD. All they could offer me was 5 pounds off a month despite being a customer for 10 years. Have given 31days notice of cancellation. Am a bit worried that they won't contact me with an offer but time will tell. Just hope it happens before the Grand Prix season starts again or else I will be in the bad books with my husband!0

Fingers crossed you get a call in a few daysI cancelled after my first year last June and within 5 days sky had called and offered me 50% off which I declined, they then offered me the full package for free for 6 months :j Unfortunately my offer ran out last month so I had to cancel and now it's gone off, I haven't had a word off them this time

I was just wondering, I am in contract for sky phone and fibre bb, does that mean sky wouldn't have bothered offering me a deal to keep the sky tv anyway? Has anyone else got a call without cancelling the whole sky account?
Well they have 3 months, I've just started my free trial of netflix, next month it will be lovefilm and then now tv lol, if they don't contact me I'll just use the money I have saved to buy the humax box, thanks to blistering blue for the link to the a grade box0
