I cancelled my sky package in sept. Their win back team rang me today 75% off the entertainment package and they will credit my account £70 as well. My current contract with Sky finished on the 24th of this month and I am now effectively without one and just getting the free to air channels via my sky box. I haven't had anyone call me so far and nothing in the post :-(
Going by the general feedback/suggestions here and other threads, it looks waiting for sky to callback is the best way to get a good deal or are there any other suggestions good samaritans would like to give me?
Also if that call does happen - are there some good/mostly working tips, anyone would like to share?

This comment and others in this thread confirm sky are totally cacking themselves at losing custom to other services such as Netflix. I only threatened to cancel last week and in the space of four days I've already had three calls offering me something to stay. Best has been £10 per month extra to get sports and movies for three months. Still not good enough so I'll pluck up the courage and cancel in the next few days0 -

Of more concern than Netflix to Sky is BT Sport, Netflix doesn't threaten Sky's stranglehold on the "crown jewels" of Pay TV -Premiership Football-BT certainly does.0 -

Absolutely. BT Sports, as they advertised has many 'top pick' matches. Whilst I am currently a Sky Sports subscriber it makes you think.0 -

Yes forgot to mention BT sport. I actually said to sky I'm looking to move to BT. I've had 50% offers from them before so I just have to have the bottle to cancel and wait for that call!0 -

its been about two weeks since my subscription ended and im starting to get desperate lol, or should i say the wife as i mainly watch the football and just get that on the streams anyway.
shes going crazy but shes seen that now tv with the basic channels like sky one and it has no subscription etc so might try that for a month for her but it looks ok for a fiver a month, maybe thats why sky are worrying along with bt, i believe if you pay £8 a month you can have sky movies too?0 -

If you want Sky Movies and Sky Entertainment from NOWTV, it will cost you £4.99 for the entertainment package and £8.99 for movies equalling £13.98 per month for both.
Keep in mind, some of the entertainment stuff cannot be shown on the NOWTV service due to legal reasons. They post which programmes are unavailable on their site on a regular basis. See community.nowtv.com/t5/Movies-Entertainment-and-Sports/Entertainment-Unavailable-shows-on-live-channels/m-p/139292#U139292 for more information about show's you can't watch.
I've used NOWTV for movies, it's fairly good but you do need a reliable broadband connection with a speed in excess of 2mbps to avoid buffering which would be very annoying during a film.0
