  • I cancelled last week as the best they offered after 12 years was 20% off - but that was after downgrading the whole package. I then told them I'm cancelling BT as they won't send me a new modem without a new 18 month contract even though I'm out of contract and he told me Sky's deals weren't very good!

After 30 mins I told him to cancel the TV, but give me prices for the Broadband. He recommended another site he works for that might give me a better deal and that he got his landlady sorted on it. Everyone in the office is getting half price, multi room etc. and I get "Joey" who didn't know what football was that I watch the most from Sky. Said 6 out of 18 people in my office have got half price full package multi room and all he said was "wow that is a good deal, do you want to keep your tv package I offered you?"

Tried Virgin same package & BB & it is astronomical. Got 2 weeks to find a BB provider but if I get Freesat at £200+ I'm not accepting Sky phoning 2 months later when I've already set up and paid for the next year forward.

I just called to cancel as I go on mat leave soon and can no longer afford the £76 a month.

They talked me down to 31.50 a month, but only by canceling pretty much everything we had. The only thing they offered was £12.90 off broadband & phoneline for 9 months!!! (and that was after I said no, I'd like to cancel please - twice) We've been customers for 5 and a half years on the top package.

They also suggested I don't cancel via them but by third party if thats the way we wanted to go (I didn't say we would be moving to another supplier)

What did I do wrong? I think we will go to Virgin now on principle (and it's cheaper too) even though it'll be a hassle swapping.

That's Sky's top discount you were offered. What are you complaining about?

You obviously said it was about price and indicated the extras weren't worth much to you so they recommended removing them and giving discount on the most suitable package.

They can't say this on the call but if you remove Movies and/or Sports you will get sent offers to add them back after a month or two. You won't get these deals with competitors.

How can you cancel via "third party"? Only the account holder can cancel Sky services.

If we were to take up with another provider, they will cancel the Sky service to ensure there is no break in service and possibly keep our telephone number, rather than me phoning Sky to cancel, then signing up with another provider.

When I left BT (phone) for Sky, Sky (the third party) handled the cancellation of the BT service. This is easier than cancelling yourself.

So it's been 4 days since I've notified Sky I was not renewing my sky digital package.

Got a phone call this afternoon from them on my mobile.

A lady asked me the reasons behind my non-renewal. I said it was in relation to money, that I had a 50% discount on my HD package until now and that Sky had not offered me anything when I told them I was leaving.

She sounded 'a bit surprised' and straight away offered me a 35% discount on my package which I refused, saying that a 50% discount was what I could only afford this year due to energy bill increases blah blah blah...

She did not make further offer and asked me what I would do after my subscription had ended. I told her for the time being I would watch the free channels on the Sky box.
    The conversation ended after that.

Let's see now if I get more phone calls by the 27th of January and a better offer.
What's interesting though is that they contacted me on my mobile... :)

You're lucky you got a call! I cancelled on the 27th November and haven't had a single call . Everything went off 2 days ago, it's not the channels I miss but it's so annoying not being able to pause, rewind or record. I just hope the win back department calls soon, I don't know how much longer I can console my little girl about no more disney junior!
