Thought I'd add my experience. Virgin customer for 4 years paying (now) £90 for full tv incl sports & movies, med bb and small talk, one VHD box and a normal box. Phoned to see if there was anything else they could offer and surprise surprise there was f all to offer!
Went online to speak to Sky - they offered me everything for £57, that was for unlmtd bb, talk weekends & entertainment extra+, tried to get their new H2TB or whatever its called but they were looking for £150 so didn't bother with that; I was happy with what they had offered.
Within 4-5 days of placing my cancellation request to VM they called me to find out why I was leaving and what I was getting. To cut a very long story short I decided to stay with VM. I now have a TIVO box & VHD box, full tv sports and movies, 30 meg bb with a new super hub? and talk weekends for £54 a month
Delighted
My advice to whoever is waiting on that loyalty phone call is be polite to the advisor, big up the company you are leaving and tell them its all about the cost, they will bend over backwards to keep you - good luck!0 -

well i cancelled virgin andthey didn`t offer anything said that they could not get close to the deal sky were offering.
2TB BOX + 1 TB BOX all tv hd 40 meg broadband and phoneline,oh movies and sports aswell all for £65 for 6 months then £85for rest of contact.
As yet i`ve not had any contact from virgin, pity really because i would have prefered to stay with virgin to save all the hassle of changing over but money and services count, even after 6 months i`ll be getting more for less with sky than i was with virgin.0 -

Totally agree. I left VM a while ago for Sky.
Now paying approx. £28 per month for Sky Entertainment +, Sky Sports, Talktalk unlimited b/band, TalkTalk free evening & wend calls & TalkTalk phone line rental.
Get the normal post from VM to rejoin but everytime I ring they can't even match them let alone beat them !
Can't wait for Wizi to get the BT sports lol;):rotfl: !0 -
Just phoned Sky to enquire about joining them as my Virgin contract is up at the end of the month - after talking to them for 2 minutes they offered me the Complete Bundle (including all Movies and Sports) for £35.50 a month for 12 months!
Rang Virgin to inform them of my decision to cancel TV and phone and they literally didn't care and didn't offer any incentive to stay despite being with them since the NTL days. Was paying £72/month for 120mb broadband, TV XL and a phone line we never used, now paying a combined £63 a month for full TV package and 120mb broadband.

I called sky to cancel saying it was just too expensive(I pay £24 a month for non HD sky with no movies/sports) and they offered me a discount £6/month for 6 months which I declined. I was expecting her to come back with a better offer but then just put the cancellation through.
I was then wishing I'd accepted the £6 discount as I wasn't sure I'd hear form them again and didn't really want to loose Sky but was prepared to try Freesat for a while if it came to that.
3 weeks later I got a phone call from a very nice person at sky, she initially offered me the same deal I'd been offered before and I explained how I'd declined it as I didn't feel it was any real saving. 5 seconds later I was offered sky at half price for 12 months.
Very happy with the result, just hang in there and hope they call you back!0 -
25% discount for 12 months on full package.. HD was already on a 50% off till the end of march so was left the same no new contract so don't lose F1 when i cancel sports but keep HD..0

Coming up to 2yrs without SKY at the end of 'Summer'
We've still got Sky talk and broadband though, £10 a month and we paid up front for a yrs line rental £120.
Thinking of going back for a year if they'll offer 1/2 price and a HD box, how much would half price be now for the full package ?0 -
Just off the phone with SKY,They offered me 25% off my TV package(£10.50 discount).
Currently paying £83 For TV,BB,Telephone(line and Talk)...
Told them i'd keep Telephone line and BB and i've cancelled the TV(TV,Movies,HD and 3D....all going in August).
Hopefully will get a call....0 -
Hi again an update. I got a phone call from sky today saying they saw that i had phoned, to enquire if it was possible to have any discounts once my contract finishes, which is the end of this month. I was told by the lady that because i am currently on 50% discount they couldn't offer me anything!!!! All i was told was they could remove some channels which would save me a bit. I asked would there be any discounts once my contract actually finished and again was told highly unlikely. So i decided to hand in my 31 days notice hoping that i will recieve another phone call in the next few weeks or something in the post.Good luck to you all hope you fare better than i did0
