Their ADSL2+ broadband is expensive (although they have new customer offers right now) but their FTTC offering (Infinity) is pretty competitive.

I posted this a little while back when comparing with my current TalkTalk Unltd:

On the BT website it says unlimited broadband is £16 a month, with £15.45 line rental which is over £30 a month before I’ve even added any inclusive calls. Looks like that costs another £7 a month (not sure if they do the equivalent of talktalks inclusive local calls).

So after the ‘free for 6 months’ offer BT are doing, I’ll be paying over £37 a month for something I’m currently paying about £21 for. I might as well just pay for BT Sport if I really wanted it!

Hi I would like some pointers please if possible,

I would like to pay less for my SKY spbscription,i currently pay around £70 pounds for TV with sports, phone and BB.

I would like to get multi room set up,my question is could i try to get a reduction that includes the multi room or should I try say I want to cancel to get a discount and then add multi room after ?

    Thanks

If you get a deal on your current package then it is unlikely their system will allow further discounts within your new contract if you come to add multiroom.(Unless you can avoid a new 12 month contract).

So much depends on what you are actually happy to pay.
If you are out of contract and threaten to cancel, but also indicate you would like multi-room it can be best to negotiate all there and then.
It should be entirely possible for you to get some discount ie 20% on your current TV product. The bolt on multiroom they should be able to offer at £2.50 a month for a year. On this I would be pushing to use your current box as the multi-room unit and have a new 2Tb box for the new room. You again should get this for £49.99 maximum. You may also be able to barter on the £60 installation.
On my last multi-room upgrade I told Sky I wanted the whole house changed over due to internal changes. They accomodated this and it also entailed a new Dish.
They actually left on request the cables for a room I was not using via subscription any longer. That has subsequently been wired up to a spare box I had for the free to view channels.

Heres a screendump of my current discounts to show if done at the same time are possible.

Entertainment Extra with Sports and Movies HD 07 Jul - 06 Aug £64.75
    Viewing Subscription Discounted 07 Jul - 06 Aug - £10.90
    HD Pack Discounted 07 Jul - 06 Aug - £7.75
    Extra Subscription 07 Jul - 06 Aug £10.25
    Multiroom Subscription Discounted 07 Jul - 06 Aug - £7.75
    Extra Subscription 07 Jul - 06 Aug £10.25
    Multiroom Subscription Discounted 07 Jul - 06 Aug - £7.75
    Yours at no extra cost
    Sky TV total: £51.10

Just phoned up BE to cancel my broadband as was considering moving to BT as some good deals with them (£8 a month for 12 months and £40 Sainsbury card + £84 cashback with Top Cashback).

BE (who have been taken over by Sky) offered me free broadband and free TV for 12 months! They put me through to Sky who honoured the offer even though I am an existing sky customer. They are giving me free broadband and free Family Pack Extra (includes HD channels normally cost £31.50 a month) including a free sky box with 12 months warranty. Need to pay £119.50 upfront for 12 months line rental or £14.50 a month.

Cancelled Sky completely around ten days ago, was paying them around £97 per month inc broadband, all sports and movies.

Offered me 50% discount for 12 months with no contract, also cancelled my multiroom so down to £60, now to cancel that broadband and get free BT sport.

Thanks everyone on here for the info.

If going down the route of 31 days notice, do you get switched off there and then or after the 31 days??

Am currently with Sky and asked them what they could offer. All I can get is a 10% reduction on my current £64.50. Did just come out of a 12months 50% TV deal with them and was hoping they had something better they could offer, but was told nothing was available.

My Sky broadband is running for another 6months and cannot cancel that....so if I went for TalkTalk or BT, am I right in saying I cannot take their TV packages as I need to take out their internet too???

How could it be 31 days' notice if it was switched off straight away?

Just requested to cancel my Sky as apparently they couldn't offer me anything, spoke to someone in retentions and they offered me my same deal -£14 per month....so £50.50 per month.
    Rather happy about that :-)

    Hi

I'm finding the billing very confusing with Sky, can anyone tell me what we should be paying for the following:

    TV package only:

    Sky Entertainment Extra
    Sky Sports

I have a Sky + HD box as my main box, plus 2 multirooms with Sky + boxes.

I'm currently paying 57.75 for the packs, plus two lots of 10.25 for the multirooms.

I know this might depend on when we changed the contract, I have been with Sky for many years. At some point, we were being charged for 3 extra subscriptions even though we've only ever had 2 digiboxes and the main one.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Liz

We have cancelled Virgin Media today. We were paying £61 for L BB, XL tv with TiVo and M phone. We rang to cancel and they offered M+ Tv, free 118 numbers, 45 minutes to 0845 numbers for £32! Crap! Rang back and cancelled fully. We could do with an extra £60 a month but would have been willing to consider a decent deal
