The wireless connector doesn't if you are an existing movies customer, I just rang and confirmed. It's only the actual hd+ sky boxes that tie you in for another 12 months.

Didn`t tie me into another contract, I cleared that up first before I did it.

It's as clear as day on the website that ordering the "free" connector ties the customer into another year.
Looks like you need to urgently cancel that order if you don't want an another minimum term.

It doesn't say that on the website, it says taking the free connector means another year.

"Free Wireless Connector offer: Available to new and existing Sky TV customers adding the Movies Pack (Movies 1&2). Offer ends 27 June 2013. Wireless Connector normally £21.95. Self set-up required."

Says nothing about a contract on my offers anyway....

my virgin contract runs out on the 24th july rang to cancel and they tried to say I would have to pay termination fee? when I asked why he said "you can only give 30 days notice" I told him that you can give notice between 30 and 60 days before end of contract !(which by the way is FACT) he then tried to get me to stay by offering me a lower contract at a higher cost £5 more than now) paying phone line 12 months in advance and only having freeview channels?I refused! next he asks why I was leaving for petes sake the chap who called them smug Scots gits was being nice and I am a Scotsman!! told him that talk talk was offering fibre optic BB and phone cheaper than they were he replied "Aye but you only get freeview" err Virgin were offering the freeview with the bb and phone for3 x as much ! needless to say my cancelation is going through as is the cancelation at my exs home (as I pay both bills I feel I am entitled to do so after chatting to her) Loyalty Virgin do not know the meaning of the word!!!

Read the bits further down the page headed "legal stuff". It says you don't even sign for the extended contract.

I think you'll find you've "agreed" to an extended contract by not reading everything before going ahead.

Different if a Sky advisor sold it to you on the 'phone..there'll be a record of what she or he told you.

    Found the relevant bit for you on the site;

"Tick the box below to confirm you have read and agree to Sky's Terms and Conditions and Sky's Privacy & Cookies Notice, and to confirm that you authorise the implementation of your choices above. Clicking "Buy Now" will submit your order for the Sky products you've chosen and will result in you entering into a contract with Sky if your order is accepted. This confirmation and online validation removes the need for you to sign a contract with Sky."

If you ticked this box during an online order for this "free" connector, then you've entered into a new minimum term.

    This is incorrect.
Ordered free connector ( not "free" connector, as it is actually free so doesn't need the " " around it ) and upgraded to Sky Movies on 5th May. Rang Sky to cancel contract on 27th May, received later yesterday to say cut off will be 27 June, final balance etc. etc. job done.

Got me slightly worried there pal, but I can confirm the connector is, as it states, free! Just had another chat and the guy confirmed I`m not tied into another contract. Saved the conversation also, which I`m informed is evidence. The guy stated...."The customers who added the wireless connector for free, been receiving the incorrect email and letter".

Just thot I`d let everyone know

    Thanks for that.
I still think I'll pass on the "free" offer.

This is useful to any Sky Movies subscsriber with a Sky+HD box....

free wireless connector! I just ordered mine
    Thanks for that.

I'm well out of my sky contract and I'm sick of paying them over £100 per month... I don't even get espn.

I'll be calling them for a discount as people seem to be getting the same contract as me for 30-40 quid less.

I'll take the free connector afterwards as it there for anyone :T.
