The HD pack is now incorporated as part of Entertainment Extra+ with the premium reduced to £5 - £31.50 v £26.50 for Entertainment Extra.

You lose Sky Sports F1 but gain Sky 3D as part of the new pack.

Still no reduction for (in my opinion) the main reason for having HD; Movies and Sport.

However, it's also good to see more and more channels actually broadcasting in HD -there is far more HD material available than there was just a few years back. It actually makes the new Entertainment Extra + quite appealing.

Actually when Sky+ first launched it was £300 for the box and they charged £10 a month for the recording features. It wasn't until quite a while later that they included it with premium subscriptions.

rang sky today threatened to leave as it's £48.50/mth (£582/yr)for tv entertainment extra, U/L b.b & phone with eve & w.e calls. Mentioned I could get £76 cash back with quidco then cheaper & simular tv package & 30mb b.b with virgin, they offered free line rental for a year at £14.50/month which is £174 Yr :o) did have to sign up for another years contract but not 18m like virgin but will come of May's bill. So now pay £34 instead of £48.50!! Get your facts right first with other offers & their own new customer offers though to give you more hanggling power.

Despite my best efforts I have been unable to persuade SKY to offer me anything like the spectacular discounts quoted elsewhere.

I have been with Sky since around 1994, on the full SKY World package, currently paying £55 per month and still on the old white SKY+ box.

I called today to say I was interested in an HD package and having seen lots of other SKY customers quoting substantial discounts they had received what sort of deal could we do.

The best they are are prepared to offer is a 2tb SKY+ box for £49 (as quoted on their website) and a monthly fee of £54.30 to include HD.

I mentioned that friends have recently taken advantage of the MSE 50% discount codes and others have renewed for 12 months with substantial discounts and he was not prepared to budge.

I feel like cancelling and switching to another service out of principle!

If you don't cancel they don't take you seriously. You can always call up on day 30 and say you have changed your mind.

Would you give money off to someone who wasnt 'serious'...

Currently, i pay £67.50 a month which includes ESPN (going in July), Multi room and Entertainment Extra with sports. I phoned up today and gently mentioned the "cancellation" word whilst being as polite and engaging as possible. My view was they must get bored of people threatening to cancel and enloy calling their bluff. I mentioned that my phone/broadband is with BT and only two months into a new contract and that HD is a bit of a non starter as i only have an HD Ready TV with DVI connectors so HD is not only a connection faff but TV is not good enough to appreciate HD.

After 10 mins i got offered the princely sum of £5 off for 4 months!! I politely declined and said i would need to thinlk about it and get some prices from BT for their TV packages.

I am inclined to now think that the web is full of people basically bull shixxing about the deal they haggled with SKY because SKY know they offer a great service (particularly for sports fans) and with record profits for everyone cancelling there is always a new customer in waiting.

    Where did i go wrong?

You didnt give your 31 days notice.

When I called up yesterday I said that my half price offer on the TV was ending in 31 days and if I had my dates right then I would like them to remove it - dont watch it that much, have a freesat TV as backup so not worth the full price a month, etc (which is all true).

Said I was quite happy to continue if there was another 1/2 price offer otherwise they should take it off. They had a 'look' and put the half price on again. This would be year 3 with this offer now.

Had they not done that I would have quite happily gone through with the cancellation as I made my intentions clear from the start. No 'thinking about it', etc.
