Had a call off Sky yesterday, asking if there was anything they could do for me.....I said they could give me the F1 channel for nothing.
Said he couldn't do that but I could have the HD package which includes the F1 channel for £2.50 per month on a monthly deal with 31 days cancellation.I already have a HD box.

    Too good to decline :)

Yep, they seem to have hardened and their customer service attitude which was excellent now leaves a lot to be desired! Spoke to them today after seeing the MSE article on the 50% off deal for new customers. I phoned Sky and the best they could do was drop about a tenner, even though I am regularly paying over £60! Plus do they even listen to you? Nope! Just like to have a nice long chat! They even discredited the validity of the MSE 50% discount codes, as they said if the offer was on, it would be on the Sky website.

Seriously starting to look at Virgin as their broadband is better and I hope their customer service is better too!

I've just rang Virgin, I am a broadband, phone, line rental, caller display customer my last bill was £45 and that was on a 'cheap' package with me hardly using the phone at all (to keep costs down)
I was offered upon saying I wanted to cancel my contract £30.64 a month for 12 months with daytime calls included my free calls before were evenings: and weekends, same package as before basically but £15 cheaper, hooray! :T
  • Never had any problems with Virgin, excellent service, very quick broadband love it, was getting a bit expensive for me though but with the offer I was given will stay a bit longer and see how it goes :-)

I'm currently with Virgin I have a landline, basic tv and basic broadband and pay £47 a month. Is this a fairly standard price?

I don't ever use the landline was am wondering if I may be able to get a cheaper deal if I only want TV and broadband?

I have been a sky customer since the very beginning, well over 20 years, since the days when movies and sports were free! Yesterday I had to decide whether to take up the muse TalkTalk you view offer (expired last night).

I phoned Sky and explained that I had terminated my contract but would be prepared to stay if thee was a decent offer to continue. I explained that this was their last opportunity as I would be entering into a new 2 year contract with TalkTalk. The best offer they could give me was 10% off list price.

As we only really watch the odd program on the sky channels there is no way I would be prepared to pay £24 per month.

My you view box will be here in a few days and aft April 14 it is bye bye Sky. It is unlikely that I will go back to them ever again as the tv world is changing massively as the Internet becomes the delivery mechanism of the future.
    To infinity and beyond!

Hi, Has anybody successfully negotiated a discount with Virgin media while in contract? I have tv, broadband and phone, and found out my partner is pregnant so we are trying to scrimp where we can. I'm 7 months into a 12 month contract. Thanks

You won't have any luck whilst in contact, unless they're feeling sympathetic to your changing circumstances. I imagine the most you'll get is a discounted cancellation fee, or maybe they'll let you drop down your package to save money (but possibly starting a new contract in the process).

Old package was £73.30 inc Talk unltd, XL TV, XL Brbnd 20 mb, V + and addtl V Box
£14.99 line rental and £25.75 Sky sports =£114.04 per month = £1368.48 per year :(

New package - paid upfront year line rental £120 (£59.88 saving)
now £58.65 /month inc Med + TV ( never watch all those channels anyway) , new TIVO box installed for installation of £5.99 , usually £49, and keep other V+ box , Talk weekend calls inc 0845 numbers, plus still includes Sky Sports. Yearly cost £823.8
    Total yearly saving =£544.68:T
  • I've been with Sky for 18+ years and I've got their HD TV, Unlimited Broadband and calls/line rental package. I pay approx £55 a month for this. I'm perfectly happy with it but my SKY+ HD box isn't working properly. One of the input sockets is faulty. This means that we have to watch whatever channel we're recording which really defeats the purpose. I spoke to one of their advisors because of the error messages etc and he tried to get me to take out their insurance which would mean I would get a new box for free. I decided, well my hubby decided, to not bother and we'd just put up with it. Well, it's crap.

We're not in a cable area so our options are limited. We can't afford to pay for an aerial (we've always used the sat dish) and we can't afford to buy a new box. Hubby wants me to phone Sky and threaten to cancel unless they send us a new box but I'm not confident enough to do this. I don't think we've got anything to threaten them with!

    Any suggestions?
