Just about to move out of the in laws so we have no package with anyone. Still toying with getting freeview for the cost savings but as a family we love the documentary channels on sky, never used virgins so am interested to hear everyone's views.

The channels available from Virgin are almost identical to Sky's line-up with a few notable exceptions.

Interesting to read what OP's have been getting offered .

I find myself coming up to the first 12mths of having Sky & likewise to what i do with BT & O2 when it comes to end of contract they usually give me a better deal to renew .

Just phoned Sky & all i was offered was the HD(already have & like) for half price saving a fiver a month ,i was advised that as i am 5 weeks away from the full 12mth period if i was to call back within the 31 day period towards the end of contract that there may be additional offers they could offer me so on the note i said i would call back in a weeks time with the intention of getting a better deal or cancelling .

I'll post what the outcome is .

Quite happy to cancel as i will then renew through TCB & take advantage of the £100 cash back & £25 voucher offer ,if it's still on .

This won't work, this is a new customer only deal, you would have to go without Sky for 12 months. If you cancel you can't then join as a new customer until 12 months is up.

Can someone tell me if this is a good deal with virgin .

    30 meg broadband
    XL tv
    XL phone
    1 tivo box
    1 hd box.

Price £50.78 per month for 12 months

    Is this what you are on already or have been offered? Personally think this is a pretty good deal. As I said on a previous post I now get;

    1 Tivo box
    1 V+ HD box
    1 Basic box
    XL tv with Sports
    M phone
    60mb Broadband

Price £85pm but £20 off for first 6 months

Thought this may be a possibility but would give it a go ,would be surprised if it doesn't go through TCB .

Remember changing energy supplier once & it never actually went ahead due to a mess up from them ,TCB money still got paid out .

Whats the worst that can happen ,it doesn't work & i have a choice to rejoin or not ,it wouldn't cost me any more .

All above is theory ,depends when i call back in over a week if the incentivise staying any further but what i have read over the last couple of pages i won't hold my breath .
Gotta love a good bargain !

Has anyone actually had any luck with BT? As I find their customer service is awful, every time I ring up to see if I can get it cheaper it goes up! Advice is needed. Thanks

Sky won't allow new customer deals to an address that is currently subscribed or has been in the last year. TCB would be unable to circumvent this.

Around 13 months ago I haggles with BT. I wanted evening & weekend calls plus 10GB Broadband at a cheaper deal than I was already paying. I threatened to leave to Orange who kept offering me good deals, but I was reluctant to leave as the Home Hub is the best wireless router we've ever had.

I got offered the broadband for around a tenner a month and paid the line rental upfront, including the eve & weekend calls - this was just over a £100 at the time.

On renewal this year, I phoned BT and was ready to haggle again, but they just renewed the old deal, although the line rental is now up to £129. I was quite happy with it.
  • Hi everyone, I hope you can advise.
I'm a long term SKY subscriber, joined in 2006, have the full package - all channels including HD, Sports and Movies, Broadband and Sky Talk also Multiroom with 1 additional box. I Pay approx £90 a month.
I want a better deal as I really can't afford what I am paying at the moment. Negotiated a six month half price deal with Sky some years back but havn't done anything since that expired.
Have been thinking about changing provider to get a better deal.
BT (who supplies my landline) are offering me 12 months free broadband and unlimited evening and weekend calls to UK landlines.
I am unable to get Virgin Media as there is no cable in my area.
Does anyone have any advice? I'm not too sure on changing broadband and call supplier as I believe that keeping it all with the one provider gives me better terms to negotiate but 12 months free broadband and free calls seems a fair deal.
