If you've already given a months notice to cancel you should make sure you don't get charged past the cancellation date. You will still get freeview channels via your sky box after cancellation. If its just that your contract is up then your sky package will continue on a monthly basis until you notify them to cancel.0

Sky will associate your address with your old account and will not treat your wife as a new customer.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Hi, first post....
I called Sky today for first time. I told them I was looking to change to BT Vision because my monthly fee was too expensive (£54.50 full package). I was also keen on getting a new Sky+ HD box so I can receive On Demand although the website cost was £259.99 (with installation)! Anyway, after many many question such as what channels do u watch and what programmes on those channels do u watch, how about ur wife does she watch that, I finally struck a deal (this was after telling them I was about to buy a box from ebay for £60). I was offered a box with installation for £44 (1 years warranty) and a reduction in monthly payments to £43.60 for 9 months :T
All in all, happy chappy3.975 kWp System, South facing, 21 degree pitch, 15 x Canadian Solar Elps, Samil Inverter, location NE Scotland (Fraserburgh) Bring on the Sun :beer:0 -
As per shavy65 above. Called Sky. Spoke to a nice woman in Dunfermline, told her honestly that I was looking at options re Sky compared to BT and Virgin. Immediately cut cost from £64.50 per month to £51.32 per month for six months and NO extension of contract. Now about to ring BT re phone.................. Many thanks MSE.0

I want to reduce my bill - £65 for having all channels bar Sports/Movies, HD Pack, line rental, all day unlimited calls and broadband max.
I cannot move to VM as they have done the cabling for the houses down my road and not the flats where I live!
What is the best way of approaching the CSA at Sky when I phone them to reduce my bill? I have been with them for 2.5 years and no problems.0 -

You can always call them up again the day before it is due to be switched off and say you have changed your mind so you have nothing to lose.0 -
It pays to cancel. I was without Sky for 4 weeks after cancellation and last week received a 75% off offer plus £50 credit which I took up.0

I phoned Sky today as my half price HD subscription expired today. They said they couldn't offer me another discount so I cancelled it. I had a 25% discount offer on my account anyway that expires in a few months. If they don't offer anything then I will be cancelling my whole package. The offers are great for new customers but I'm annoyed that they don't have any for existing ones.0

In short, no you cannot.
Sky will associate your address with your old account and will not treat your wife as a new customer.
I have just done this with my girlfriend, and it has worked without any problems.
i suspect that if your wife tries it you may struggle if she has taken your surname.
i received a letter form SKY stating something along the lines of a new tenant at the address has applied for SKY etc
We got the tv installed saturday, with broadband next week.0
