So as an existing customer I would not have been able to access the reduction by 50% to my sky package? I already have HD and was attempting to reduce my overall package cost, is this not what was stated when is says hadn't had an offer in the last twelve months.
Thanks for your advice KTF
If you want to reduce your costs you will have to phone them up and either negotiate or cancel and then see what they offer you in return.0 -
Hi, had Sky TV for around 15 years and been with Virgin since NTL for phone and broadband. Have been thinking of moving everything to Virgin but got rather confused looking at the packages/price online, and today I received a phone call. I'm not sure what to make of it. I was offered a Tivo box and free installation, broadband, phone (free weekend calls), 'essentials' TV for £41. This seemed rather high compared with some adverts I've seen recently and and I said so. The guy said 'everyone pays the same' then contradicted himself and said I actually would be paying less than some as I was an existing customer. He left me his phone number claiming I would only get free installation if I phoned him. It is cheaper than my seperate Sky and Virgin deals (I'm curently paying £25 for internet/phone from Virgin and I have the basic Sky which if I remember correctly is £29). Any advice appreciated.0

Secondly, find out who it was who rang you. If it was me I'd be ringing Virgin directly and not some intermediary who cold-called me.0 -
Length of years with SKY means nothing when trying to negotiate a deal... After 20 yrs paying full package I cancelled 4 weeks ago and now waiting for Virgin to install New 1TB TiVo box and additional box upstairs, Full VIP package + 100mb BB + Phone for £63 for 6 months then the £91 thereafter. (Have Email confirmation of all prices incase they try to Hike it up). Massive saving as SKY wanted to charge for new box upstairs and install Reckon I have saved £300+ in total and have got fibre optic BB which would have cost even more with SKY
I got One call from SKY during the 4 weeks cancellation period They could not offer me anything close to Virgin deal!
So just because you cancel does not always mean you will get a deal to stay. (Even after 20 yrs)0 -

Means zip all, I handed in my notice to Virgin, after 15.1% increase in prices on VIP in a year - been with them for over 10 years and refused to pay over £100.
Got the Sky 50% deal today, just negotiating the deal with VM for their BB (which is 100mb here, instead of the 6mb Sky could get me...)0 -

I have had Virgin telephone and broadband for years, with a 'free' tv box upstairs with just basic channels, and have Sky tv package downstairs. I have been on to Virgin because I fancied the TiVo box - we have quite an old Sky box that is always running out of space. Anyway, at the moment I am paying about £40 a month for my Virgin services, and have been on a 12 month package for £17.50 from Sky (going back up to £21 later this month). So that's £61 a month from January. I am getting basically the same channels from Virgin, plus some HD ones that I don't get now (premier collection, see website)' a TiVo box, Talk Unlimited on my phone, a new router and modem, faster broadband speed - all for £46.90 a month, plus a one off installation fee of £29.95 (I haggled them down from £49.95).
That's a saving of £139 a year, with a better box And HD channels - pretty pleased with that! Sky also offered me a 25% discount if I stayed with them.0 -

Many thanks
Peter
Buy a second hand Sky + box off auction site and get sky to install basic multiroom, if you speak nicely to the install engineer who would normally fit the new box for you, then you call sky to activate your new box with your viewing care. Job Done:rotfl:0
