I have asked sky on numerous occasions for a "deal" - as I have been a customer for at least 6 years - they simply tell me that if I am not happy - I can cancel (at no cost to myself) - the cheek of it !!
So cancel then and see what you get offered.

  • well if Cockroach had his done at 2:01 there must have been a hell of a lot in front of him
  • I'm currently on the following package with VM:

Home Phone (M) - Unlimited Weekend Calls
Digital TV (M) - Basically Freeview HD Channels with V HD Box
    Broadband (L) - 10Mbps with Superhub

Paying £30.40 per month including line rental (increasing to £32.64 per month from 1st February 2013)

I am in the middle of a 18 month contract, but cancelled my package without fee when notified of the price increase.

I got a call from Outbound Retentions who have now given me the following package:

Home Phone (M) - Unlimited Weekend Calls
Digital TV (M+) - 80+ Channels Incl 6 HD - Free TiVo (500GB) Box with Free Installation (Normally £50)
Broadband (XL) - 30Mbps with Superhub

+ 1 Month Free of Charge

Paying £34.90 per month including line rental (increasing to £36.99 from 1st February 2013)

Equivalent to £33.73 per month over 12 month contract. Not bad considering I'm still in-contract, and I am happy to pay £1.09 extra per month for a better TV package, 500GB TiVo box with installation, and triple speed broadband.

I'm thinking about paying for 12 months line rental upfront for £120 and saving an additional £60 though. Then it's only the equivalent of £28.73 per month.

For those who are expecting a call back from outbound retentions, they also offered the following which I thought was a decent deal, but I wanted a few more channels:

Home Phone - XL with Unlimited Landline calls and 150 minutes to use on 0844/0845/0870, international or UK mobiles numbers.
Digital TV - M - Freeview HD Channels with Free 500GB TiVo with free installation.
Broadband - XL - 30Mbps Broadband with free Superhub

All for £30 per month including line rental on a 12 month contract. Also available with line rental saver option, but no option for TV/BB upgrade or several months free as it is already heavily discounted. It would have cost £40+ just to go from TV M to TV M+.

Can anyone tell me if they have tried the new YouView?

I was offered this today when I rang BT to ask about moving my BB to them and leaving VM? As i said I was thinking of leaving my TV with VM, BT said I could get a brand new service YouView by taking BB with them and taking YouView, I would only have to pay £12.50 for 12 months (£6.99 for delivery only) whereas I will have to pay £21.50 to stay with VM for TV (L), also getting BB free for the first 6 months and then £13 per month after for that, we already have BT Unlimited Anytime call plan paid 12 months in advance.

I did try to research this and I came across a message thread on ThisisMoney saying to get the XBMC Media Centre Raspberry Pi instead, but it all sounded a bit technical for an old fogie like me :p Just wondered if anyone had the YouView yet and their opinion of it?

    I was for a start :D

Ordered using the code, well pleased :)
  • I managed to bag a code for my mum too :D

Does anybody know if the code actually has a time limit on it as to when it has to be used by? Can't find that information anywhere!
  • I have sky entertainment extra & sky sports pack, talk & unlimited broadband.
Any one rang sky to cancel tv only and keep bb &talk.

Whats the likely outcome,i know i could ring and find out for myself but a bit worried about my haggling skills.Happy to let em cancel it to be honest but of course i am open to offers as i do like my football and cricket.

    Why is it so expensive....gggrrr
  • Have just haggled this deal today with Sky. I know its not as good as some of the historical deals, however I was happy with it.

I currently have the full package with one multiroom and espn. I have the old sky plus box and have been with sky since 2001.

I cannot get virgin in my area.

I have got a free hd+ box with free installation. I have also got my monthly fee (£74.75) reduced to £63.85. I then wanted hd channels for which they will charge £5.00 extra, so now £68.85 a month for 12 months. I can add or remove any of the channels whenever I want. By agreeing the new package I get new box incl installation free which is what i really wanted and agree to remain with Sky for another 12 months.

I am pleased with the deal, so thank you moneysavingexpert for getting me to look into a deal. :j:T
