  • I have just read the last few pages of this thread with great interest - I am out of contract and obviously pay far too much each month for Sky.
I have an old Sky+ box, which is past its best, have Sports channels but not movies, think I am paying at £48 per month (give or take)
I am also out of contract with BT, my internet provider and am looking for a better deal. My internet speed where I live is minimal to say the least - no cable in the area.
What do you think of me phoning up and threatening to leave Sky, on the basis that BT have offered me a decent TV/Internet package - (which they haven't !) is it heard of to be offered a good deal on the whole lot from Sky?

Hey all, rang sky today as was free and wanted to see what would happen when i actually went through to cancellations:..

Went through to cancellations and the guy came up with the following:

    1) sky + hd box (as ive got a normal old non plus box)

    2) Free Installation

    3) 20% of package for 9 months

    4) £5 for hd pack (normal 10.25)

Now from the above the only good thing is the 20% of for 9 months deal as when i rang a month ago and just talked to the normal sales team as i got a new hd tv the lady offered me numbers 1, 2 and 3 above anyway so didnt really get a new deal from the cancellations

mentioned ive got virgin bb and will need to think and possibly continue with cancellation on monday after talking with family

I also mentioned movies and he said for that i can give u everything above plus movies for £21.00 per month for 6 months then just cancel movies and it will go back to £26.00 plus an extra £5.00 if you want hd
But this deal would tie me in for 12 months, meaning i need to keep some type of subscription for 12 months

Then i mentioned the 2 tb box and he said £149, i said hell no mate when i rang before the lady said £49 adn it would always be £49 after checking and apologising he said it is 49 but installation is 60 so £109 total and the computer would not let him reduce installaton even thought it should be the same as installation the other box and thats free :T:rotfl::rotfl:

How do these deals look people?

  • Virgin offers expire Nov 30th apparently so anyone thinking of swapping services needs to make some decisions soon.

If I have not had the call this week from Sky prepared to match Virgin offer I will be changing over and they will have lost a 20yr Customer!
  • Just called SKy as wanted to switch my broadband and phone from Talktalk and was going to go with BT.
They offered me line rental for £6 braodband free and anytime calls for £2.50! Total for 1st 6 months £8.50 a month then £16.00.
I then chanced my arm to ask about multiroom and was offered it for £2.50 a month £5 installation and a free Sky+ box!
They have also extended my tv discount for another 6 months so I am getting Entertainment Extra and Sports for £32.44
Total for TV pack, broad band, anytime calls and multiroom is £43.44
I am sure she made a mistake but I am not complaining!!:j

  • OK just had the 'Courtesy' call from Sky.....

"We see you are leaving SKY and we were wondering if there was anything we could do to change your mind"

Once again I explained to the SKY person the Great deal Virgin have offered me!

Top Package All Channels, FREE 2TB Box, FREE Additional Box upstairs, 2 x Free Installs , Also switching phone and Broadband for Just under £10 per month cheaper than equivelant SKY package! Plus an additional £20 per month discount for the first 6months

Bottom line SKY rep admitted that he could not even come close to offering anything near that good. I think he was too embarrassed to even tell me what the best deal SKY could offer me was!

Once again explained I had been paying for the full SKY package for over 20 years but again this fell on deaf ears

So told him I would be signing up to Virgin before the 30th November deadline and I would be very interested in any deal that SKY could offer that comes close to the Virgin deal

Anyway somehow doubt I will be getting another call
