I've also got sky line rental. Does dialling 151 go through to sky?
Did not realise that...0 -
As I posted earlier this week above in (2505) I cancelled my Sky World HD Multiroom package, and then was able to negotiate a 50% discount close to my disconnection date. Today I decided I would see if I could get Sky to replace my ageing Sky+ multiroom box (should have mentioned it before I accepted the 50% discount). I asked what the best price was for upgrading my Sky+ box as I couldn't receive HD on it? I said I would install it myself as all the wiring was already there. The lady said no problem let me have a word with someone. She quickly came back and said a new Sky+ HD Box would be free as long as I paid the £15 overnight delivery charge, which I did. I consider this a very good result and I am pleased with myself for being cheeky which is not in my nature, and after already receiving a 50% reduction on my package for twelve months earlier in the week.0

I currently have Sky Entertainment package at £26 per month. My broadband and phone line is with BT. Line rental is £14.60 a month. Broadband and calls package is £14.00. The total I pay is therefore approx £55. However I frequently go above my monthly usage for broadband and I am charged £5 extra for each additional 5gb. My bill can sometimes be in excess of £70-£80 which I know is too much.
I'm now thinking of combining my phone line, broadband and tv with the same company.
I'd prefer to stick with Sky (as my tv aerial is not working so assume BT tv would not work).
Should I threaten to leave Sky saying I have better deal with BT (in the hope they give me a better offer If I threaten to leave) or should I be honest with Sky and asked for a price for a combined package.
I'm happy with the tv package I have now but would prefer unlimited broadband.
Any advice would be much appreciated.0 -
If you explain that you want to switch to them then you will probably get offered a deal as they like it when you want to get all 3 services.0

How easy it to change phone line and Broadband from BT to Sky?0
-
I changed about 6 months ago and it was seamless. One day I was on BT, the next I was on SKY. No outage in broadband either as the switching process is a lot faster now.
Takes about a month to transfer as they have to send you the router first, you give 30 days notice to BT, etc.0 -
I was going to make a topic on its own for a haggle tip but maybe better to post it here, it's a bit on the long side.
I have a Sky HD+ box which has worked with my current tv for the past two years with no problems, that was until the latest update (it adds the On Demand service) and I now have a HD connection problem where by the HD signal drops every now and then for a few seconds and comes back on as normal. At first I tried to solve it myself, thinking intially it was the HD cable (I was unaware it had updated) but nothing worked so I contacted sky via twitter. The first time there was no resolve second time they offered a free engineer visit, when the engineer was here he confirmed that it is the update at fault and replaced the box with one that had the previous software. The box has since updated (which I knew it would eventually), so I reported it and had an engineer call me who again confirmed that the software is at fault and there is nothing Sky can do. So in short Sky have no fix for their own software fault leaving me with an interrupted tv service, everytime I speak about it on twitter I get another Sky agent running me through the same processes which don't work (not complaining its great that they offer help!), last time I said I wanted my HD package at a reduced price or for free but they ignored.
Sky know of the fault but it seems their call centre and twitter folks never got the memo, I want to call but don't want to have to explain this story again and again, then have them suggest an engineer visit (or be told to replace my telly which has been said). There are no other services (BT, Virgin) available here so don't want to pull the cancel card. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to haggle myself a deal?
Just an update if anyone has the same issue a myself, I called Sky to ask for money off my bill which I got! I also got another box, a Samsung double scart one as these are not due to update for a while. In total I've had two engineer visits (2 new boxes) one engineer phone call and my months sky for free. It's worth the hassle of phoning, even tho it may be a bit embarrassing to ask for money off or more help, do it! You can only try.0 -

I do wonder about your "double scart" box being a refurbished one and I do hope your reference to SCART does not mean you are actually connected that way as you won't be getting HD pictures via SCART.0 -
