I wanted to upgrade to a sky+ box as my old one (16 years young) had started to glitch.

The cheeky blighter's wanted to charge me for the 'privilege' of a new sky+ box AND a installation fee / to upgrade my package.

Told them very politely that I now wanted to leave, so they put me through to 'cancellations' (yeah right) :D and I got the following deal after a nice, friendly negotiation: :rotfl:

Free sky+ box (with catch up tv option), free installation plus a reduction of 20% off the basic 12 month package (£21 down to 16.80 = £50 saving). :j:j

My call (08442) lasted about 25 minutes (approx. £1.50)

Whatever your sky situation, give it a go, It was very easy... Good luck! :D

Seems 20% off is the default offer you are offered if you call them up and complain about the cost from the various posts above.

Top number for Sky (020 7126 7020) worked fine for me. Free phone call if you have inclusive calls.

    Yes you cant get both
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

thanks chanz4, any idea about the £100 M&S voucher? Do you still get that if you do the referral one with a £75 voucher each? (I'm assuming you get teh £100 vouchers if you do quidco/tcb)
  • Just off the phone to sky. Complained about not having the new sky HD box therefore not able to access sky on demand. After a bit of haggling as they insisted I would have to pay for an upgrade I was put through to cancelations. The chap there could not have been more helpful and managed to get me a new HD box, wireless adapter, sky Hd for a year and engineer installation all for free.Result!!!!!!

People if you go through to cancellations and they give you a deal do you have to take it out then and there or can you tell them you want to think about it?

As im looking to get sky+HD but ive still got the original old box (non plus or even hd) so still got a single coax cable running from box to dish. my house it partly in a state of construction so i can run a twin sky coax cable from the box to dish than all the engineer has to do is connect up the 2 sides and check everything out

If i ring up for a cancellation deal i dont know when i'll be ready for the engineer to connect up the things
  • I was in same situation as you, I managed to haggle them down to £70 from £110. 20% off everything for 12 months. I got them down by saying that I was trying to get down costs, as much as I loved the services, could not justify paying over £110 for Sky in a recession and that I had obtained far better quotes from an alternative provider. The lady was really helpful. Today I cancelled Movies, saving more each month and they took my contact details so they're due to ring me up in a few days/weeks to discuss further offers I reckon :money:

In my experience, it depends on who you get on the phone. I've had some real no-shifters but also some generous ones too, keep trying and good luck. At the end of the day, you are paying a premium rate and they will not want to lose your custom, make them work for it!

  • I previously had VM at other homes and on both times, I phoned up to cancel everything in search of a better deal. Both times they called me back within a few days to offer me a far superior deal of around 50% off!

My tip would be to do the same, cancel and see what rolls in. I have had much better success with VM down this route than Sky!

    Hi Folks,

First timer here - Hope everyone is well.

I need a bit of help in trying to get my monthly VM bill down if possible?

I'm currently paying £81.15 a month and to be honest we are struggling topay it.

    Our package includes the following:

    L Broadband

    XL TV

    M Phone

We have 1 V+ HD box and a normal VHD box upstairs.

Extras we have the Sky Sports package.

If the Girlfriend had her way she'd get rid of the sports package but ifthat goes she goes as well ;-)

Is there any way I can phone up a and maybe reduce the cost somehow?

I obviously don’t want to get rid of Sports as that would mean spending moremoney in the pub J

Personally I’d bloody love a TiVo box. My Dad has just got one at theweekend and they are quite a nice piece of kit.

    Any help would be appreciated
    Chris.
