we were the same to be honest. once its gone you realise how little you actually used it.
The offers seem to have stopped for now. We quit in may and have had all the offers from 25%-75%. We did get one a couple of weeks back stating come back and we will give you free box and free installation but no discount.
p.s - walking dead series 3 opener was great. back to its best. Roll on monday morning when i can watch episode 2.0 -
Just canceled my subs. They kept pushing to reduce the level of services like removing multiroom to get the cost down. In the end they offered 20% off for 12 months. May have been BS but they told me that the 20% off TV was the best deal they had at the moment as there deals had been changed last week due to the number of people phoning and trying to get better deals!
I told them a colleague had got the 75% off deal and she agreed it had existed but had been pulled quite quickly as it was causing them a lot of grief from other customers who could not get the same deal
Anyway, not enough to keep me so I'm on my notice period0 -
Hey, I haggled with Sky 8 months ago and got 6 months at a really good deal ( was £80 and went down to £35) but its ran out so I'm looking for the next best option!
Can't get freeview (no ariel) and can't get BT or Virgin as no cable so I'm stuck with Sky or reading books!
I have gathered from all the other posts that the only thing I'm going to get is 20% off which for £80 is only £16 which is nothing!
How can I change my sky box to a free to view box and does anyone know what channels I can get?
The other option I was thinking about was how to get around being a new sky customer (can I do this by changing it to my partners name rather then mine? or are sky to clever to be tricked that way!)0 -
After seeing the deals offered to new customer I phoned Virgin having been informed on-line that existing customers could upgrade to one of the new collections.
I am currently on 10M broad band and an old fashioned box paying nearly £60 a month with 'Talk anytime'.
After an argument with the chap who answered the phone who was qoting £68 he passed me on to customer services.
The end result was that I ended up (after a small haggle) with the 'Essential Collection' - Tivo box, 30M broad band (up from 10) and 'Talk Anytime' thrown in for free. We have lost a few TV channels but most are ones we don't watch anyway.
Total cost £38.90 - down from £59.10 for better services.
We rang Virginmedia this morning and asked to be put on to the Essential Collection package at £38.90 (£25 TV M+, 30Mb/s BB -plus- £13.90 phone) as advertised for existing customers, on their website. We made two calls:
The first person told me the best offer available on our account £47.90, or we could just downgrade from L to M on tv and upgrade BB, all for a saving of about £3 per month. I pointed out several times during the call that the advert stated £38.90, but that did not get me anywhere. So I ended the call there, saying I'd think about it.
I talked it over with Mrs Ulbrecht who called them again and spoke to a different person. She stuck with asking for the advertised package and price, and after a couple of times being put on hold, we finally got the Essential Collection at £38.90.
We've lost some TV channels that we either don't watch or can live without, and there is a £49.90 installation charge for the TiVo box, plus a minimum 12 month contract for the package. So that's around £200 we've saved over the next year for virtually the same TV and Phone deal, broadband increased from 20Mb/s to 30Mb/s and an upgrade from V+Box to Tivo.0 -

Take out your viewing card and the channels you still get are the ones you will get if you cancel your sky subscription( you will still need the card for channel 5 I believe) . Your Sky+ facility will end unless you pay them £10.25 per month.0 -

Ok people, rang sky up today as my remote had developed a fault and as ive got insurance for all the equipment they're just going to send out a new 1
Thought might aswell ask for any deals they;ve got as ive just go a new tv and still have the original sky box no plus or anything
Got offered the following:
1) Sky + hd box - for free. £60.00 installation and hd pack £5.00 a month (normally 10.25)
2) sky + hd 2 tb box - £49, £60.00 installation, hd subscription same as above
I also asked about movies saying i got a leaflet stating half price movies for 12 months (blagging it) but she said the only active promo is 3 months half price then full -
BUT if i took movies i wouldnt need to pay for the install of either box
Didnt really haggle hard just told her in the end times are hard etc.. might also try virgin as got bb with them
probably call them again next week sometime and ask them to cancel as probably cant afford it0 -
