Had interesting time with Sky over last fortnight. Chatted harmoniously to the front line about cancelling downgrading etc. Used Talktalk (Phone and Broadband with them) as further bargaining chip when it became clear she could offer some concessions. Anyway got offered the standard 20% discount for 12 months no contract that is fairly common.
However I also did cancel the HD service of £10.25 a month as to be frank I dont see to much problems with SD. Dropped me from circa £75 (All in with multiroom) to £52ish. I dont need new equipment as I have picked up decent Sky HD+ boxes for peanuts at boot sales.
Anyway I guess I must have gone through somewhere as a cancelation as I got a call a fortnight later.
Want to know why I cancelled HD !!!!!!!!!!! Cut to chase. HD back on for £2.50 a month 12 months. Then he looks at my account and Multiroom reduced to £2.50 a month for 12 months (also if I take any more multirooms they would be at £2.50 but will avoid as still £60 install unless I get my drill and ladder out). Therefore bizarre as it seems they called me to further reduce my bill with a better service.
I made a point of emphasising I will keep an eye on TalkTalks future offerings as I can still end agreement at 1 months notice.0 -

This is why you have nothing to lose by cancelling.0 -
You can phone them up the day before cancellation, say you have changed your mind and the cancellation flag will be removed from your account.
The first good deal I got (half price basic package (£11 a month) and £50 credit - so completely free for nearly 5 months) came through the day after the TV service stopped.0 -
We currently have 60mb boradband and calls unlimited from VM, and sky+ with sky movies collection. I spoke to a nice lady on a stand about getting VM tv and she did me a good deal. Basically we pay about £45 to VM and will be paying from November £42 to sky. She offered me same broadband, xl tv and weekend calls for £58,plus £19 for movies and £8 to keep the calls unlimited. Plus-a second box for the bedroom. Good deal as I really could use the multiroom but sky want another £10.25 for this privelage. So I want to take the full package from VM, however, there's a £49 installation fee which apparantly there is no way round. It is annoying that a new customer who probably does'nt even have the underground cabling in, can have free installation but an existing customer who really only needs 2 boxes and a bit of coax has to pay £49.
So, does anybody know how I can get round the installation fee?
Sky wont do a deal-told me to ring again on November 23rd to see what deals are going then. (No guarantee that there will be any).
We have tried cancelling VM and taking a new contract in my name (its currently in my wifes name) but because we moved house in march, we were put on to another 12 month contract, so they want a cancellation fee-no deal its £106!When there's a knock at the door, why do dogs always think its for them?0 -
I was speaking to a friend at work yesterday as I was looking to leave sky due to £80p/m I currently cant afford. He claimed that when he tried to cancel his sky subscription that the retention team did little to try and keep him as a customer so he gave them 30 days notice to cancel. About 2 weeks later they rang him and offered him his same package but about £20 cheaper than before. Has anyone else attemted something like this?0

I got 20% of for 12 months when called to cancelDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

As i said in the thread for homephones my mum rang up to cancel her phone line due to the line rental increase and they bent over backwards with offers to keep her. We ended up walking away with line rental being paid upfront, free multiroom for 12 months, free install and a free sky + hd box. So sky do have offers you just have to get the right agents.0

It's close to 2 months since we cancelled, we had everything for 12 years, with 2 multirooms costing £110 a month and to date even when cancelling there was not a single offer. I even completed the questionnaires as we left. Had nothing since either. Still waiting on the magic 50% or the even mythical 75% off !!
To be honest I don't miss it. I still watch the TV shows as they air in the states (already watched Walking Dead season 3 opener  ) and now £100 better off each month.0
