    Especially after only a month.
I re-signed to Sky this year after cancelling about 4 years ago and they still had my details.
  • Interesting stuff!

Im about to go on maternity leave and although my husband and I live with my parents (to save for a house deposit) the virgin bill we have been getting is so high!

We pay on average £75-£80 a month as my parents do use the landline so this pushes up our package which costs £58.40 a month. Our package is:

Talk WeekendsFree VoicemailTV Size: X L1 Additional V BoxV HD Monthly FeeTiVo Monthly Fee Extra Set Top Box
Discount Broadband L (Up To 30mb)
    Bundle Charges total
    £44.50

    Phone line rental total
    £13.90

Im not sure if this is a good deal or not. I dont think my parents are that fussed with the landline, they just use it because its there and my husband and I never use it. We do use the internet (although the service is really intermittent and disappointing) but all four of us do love the TV part!

Do you think its worth chasing Sky for a better deal or speaking to Virgin to reduce the cost???
We were with Sky in our previous house - over a year ago. x

Probably better doing both. Sky might be rather a lot of upheaval though because, in addition to fitting a satellite dish, you'd also need a BT landline to enable Sky telephone and broadband.

As you are regularly paying £25+ a month additional to your Virgin subscription on phone bills, you might be wise to investigate whether an all-inclusive phone package is more appropriate for your needs. You can also save around £50 a year by paying for your landline a year in advance.

Ring them and see what they offer!

Even if you have Virgin Media you should still have an old BT line, it'd just need activating.

Having the old line physically (by no means guaranteed, of course) will not prevent BT from charging an "installation" fee.

Telling them that you are 'thinking' about cancelling isnt going to get you any proper discounts and they know it.

I cancelled my sky tv back in May after 10years with sky, 3 of them with 4x multirooms&hd. (still have phone/bb)

I have been sent the 75% off leaflet, called to see if they could offer anything else off the phone bb as someone else has stated they got cheap line rental. Also see if I was offered a new box

Rep could offer nothing else ontop of the 75% off, if I wanted a new box I would have to pay £199 for the box and £60 for installation (yes i can plug the box in myself) (apparantly these boxes are worth £299 - yeah right dont you love manufacturers RRP - for something you cant even buy from sky without a contract)

I explained that new customers with the MSE 50% off code are getting a better deal than me - 50% off tv - £100 M&S voucher - 6 months free bb and free HD box or £49 for 1tb box.

Rep argued this was not the case - I stated it was, please check www.moneysavingexpert.com and she hung up on me!

Will be leaving it until Thurday (date 75% off ends) if I hear nothing thinking of moving line rental and bb to BT - cheaper to pay 1 years line rental and bb has 6 months free.

Just done a quick monthly comparison :-

    new sub
    tv 21.25 255
    hd 10.25 123
    line 14.5 174
    bb 7.5 45

    month 49.75
    m&s 100
    month inc m&s 41.41666667

    me
    tv 10.625 127.5
    hd 10.25 123
    0
    line 14.5 174
    bb 7.5 90

    no credit 42.875
    credit 50
    with credit 38.70833333

So slightly cheaper per month but this does not take into account new sub gets free box where I would have to pay £260
