I rang to get a better deal the other day
Currently have Line rental, BB and £42ish for TV (£62.50 altogether)
Best they could do was Line rental down to £3 a month for 12 months - no discount on TV or anything unless I want to remove the movies channels
I said its still too much so put in to cancel all the TV!
Do you think they will ring before it ends? or i should ring before its cancelled and see what they offer?
Heard they have contacted people before but I only cancelled the TV not the Phone and Broadband... maybe I should have cancelled the lot... hmmMake £10 a day Challenge June - £1700 -
Me and my Partner have:
Sky World HD
Multiroom
BB
and Phone Line ( so the whole full monty )
Paying in excess of £98 a month.
We called up to say we was leaving as we had been given a better offer by Virgin. The best they could offer was £12 off a month!!! I found that an insult rather an offer.
Any Ideas how to get something better ( my account with them is due to close on 22/10/12) I went through with the cancellation to show i wasnt messing around.0 -
I left Sky in mid-August, simply telling them I was leaving (after paying £29pm for Entertainment + HD package). Went on holiday, arrived back and within a week I had 75% off all packages leaflet through the post. Signed up yesterday and now pay £21pm for Entertainment + HD + Sports. I can still add movies to make it £24pm.
They key is to always leave and to not give anything away. They'll come begging back themselves. Funnily enough, they were the ones to ring me and initially offered 30% off until I mentioned the leaflet :rotfl: . Gotta love these big corporations.0 -
i am a Virgin user for tv, broadband and my phone, i haggled and reduced my monthly bill from £102 to £66, i also had my broadband upgraded from 20 to 30meg and last but not least had a super hub provided and fitted free. well worth the call.0

For the past three years we've had a "loyalty customer package" with VM basically means we get XL TV package for price of M package plus BB and Telephone paying about £50 PM. They have said that this is an ongoing package. Just wondering if it's worth being cheeky and seeing what else they offer? Also have Sky or VM ever called somebody bluff when they said they want leave and actually cancelled their package?0

No discount on TV but Phone for £3 per month instead of £12.25.
Cheekily asked about Free SKY HD Box and lovely lady came back with Free Box, Free Install IF we take Multi-room..... @ 82p per month (new 12 month contract)...
Oh go on then I said

Hey guys,
Been with Sky since January this year. Got the Entertainment TV pack, phone and broadband (which is very slow). At £42 a month.
I'm looking to upgrade to the Sports pack and also get HD pack too (roughly an extra £31/month), so will be about £73/month, which I think is extortionate amount of money to pay for the service that Sky offers.anyway....
Considering ringing up and seeing what I can get out of them, just thought I'd get a little advice on here first. Seems most people here are looking to downgrade or are coming to end of contract. Considering I am right in middle of contract, that makes my haggling position a little weaker, no?? Anyone any experience in similar situation?

I cancelled in February this year. In March i got a letter from Sky saying 75% off and £50 credited to my account for a year. I quickly reconnected with all sky sport/films and the 2 general packages and got was paying £23.50 a month till the prices just went up. It's now costing me a whopping £24.12. The first month or so were free because of the £50 credit. Definate value for money. The year before that I was paying 50% for the year.. I also have hd pack and 3d pack0

What speeds are you getting on your broadband and how far away from the exchange are you? Given that it all comes over the same wires the speed will be the same regardless of provider.0 -
Hi all, just wanted to share my success story after reading advice about negotiating with SKY on MSE. I signed up for Sky a few weeks ago and had an installation date confirmed. In the meantime I saw the recent MSE offer for half price Sky so called them to see if I could change my deal. I was told I should wait until installation was complete then call back, which I did, only to be told I couldn't be offered half price Sky as I had already signed up! I asked them to cancel it with immediate effect and surprise, surprise, was connected to someone who might be able to help. He not only gave me 12 months half price Sky but as I used phone/broadband as a bargaining tool, offered me line rental for £3 per month for 12 months with free broadband for the first 6 months & £7.50 after that. And with the savings I got through signing up with Quidco it works out that the whole package is costing me about £12 per month - that's movies, sports, HD, 3D etc etc. Success! Thanks for the advice MSE!:j0
