Ok, so first of all contact the "Value" team, if you have a tennure of longer than 5 years you will be entitled to 10 or 20% off DTV so long as you have 2 premiums, this will recontract you for a further 12 months. Don't be rude, at the end of the day we are in control of the system and we are not obligated to give you anything, it doesn't effect our pay. If there are no offers with regard to your DTV package, enquire about your products. HD, Line rental and Broadband. When phoning "Value" tell them that you are fully aware that the program called "Merlin" will generate an offer, no matter how small. Don't shout or scream at us, we just go outside have a fag and laugh. Also calling us at anytime of the day is irrelevant we use a locked computer system. If there isn't an offer there, 9 times out of 10 there isn't one there. Speaking to managers makes no difference and threatening to cancel won't wash with "Value" and soon enough offers will become a thing of the past. Sky are catching on. This process might not work if you are a contiunal "offer rider" if you ring up every few months this course of action might not work, the more offers we select in "Merlin" the less that are likely to populate in the future. To get in contact with "Value" choose the "downgrade" option on the telephone. This will only work if you currently don't have an offer on your account.

Had it for a few years on a basic package, paying about £21 a month.
Decided 18 months ago that we didn't need it any more so phoned to cancel. Would go onto the Sky equivalent of Freesat.
Offered half price for 6 months. Said no.
Offered half price for 6 months again a few days later. Still said no.
Notice period ended and our services stopped.
The next day was offered half price for 6 months. Said no. Was then offered a £50 credit and half price for 6 months. With no contract tie-in. I agreed to that. Gave notice after 4 months, meaning we paid a couple of pounds for 5 months of Sky!
Nothing better than half price offered and we were left with the free channels for a while. Not a problem.
Got phone calls from them about once a month, each time offering half price. Each time I said no.
Then one day they phoned. Was fed up with them by this point so I sounded really uninterested on the phone.
How about half-price for 6 months? Not interested.
How about free for 6 months? With no tie-in. Ok, I'll go for that!
So he sets it up for me while I'm on the phone. What channels would I like? What can I get in the free deal? Anything I want. Everything? movies, sports? Yep. All for free!
Obviously I'll be giving notice 5 months after being given this deal...
Phoned to give notice 4 weeks ago. Due to be switched off on Monday. Mis-timed my cancellation and ended up with a bill for one pound something, but can cope with that for 6 months of Sky!
Was given the hard sell on the phone. Was offered discounts. They suggested I go away and check the offers on my account online. I wasn't interested. Cancelled.
Guy phones up today. Thanks me for my custom. Asked what the problem was. Offered half price for 12 months. I wasn't interested. Offered free for 4 months. With no contract tie-in.
Go on then, I agreed!0 -

Though I guess it depends on what you mean by "threatening" to cancel. In my case I have actually cancelled.0 -
Hello all, apologies for the long winded post but following the excellent advice on this forum I cancelled my sky package
, this will be disconnected in a couple of weeks, I’ve been with sky for around 7 years.
Package: Sky entertainment extra, HD, multi room and unlimited bb, sky anytime but not line rental.
I’m not sure if sky will contact me in the next few months to try and get me to rejoin but I’m happy to sit it out and wait to see if they do...not sure if the 50% or 75% offers will continue but it’s worth doing without sky for a while for the potential savings. I’m in a VM cable area so hopefully that’s a positive on my side - I would appreciate some advice from the experts here - I can live without all the sky channels for a few months but BB is a must for us, therefore.
Should I keep my BB with sky or will that negatively affect any potential offers or have people cancelling ALL services received the best offers?
Will going with Virgin for BB also negatively affect any potential offers?
I say ‘potential offers’ as I’m fully aware that there are no guarantees that sky will offer anything, in that case I may just move to Virgin in a couple of months.
Thanks in advance0 -

Sky have mentioned switching it to them from time to time, but I'm not interested.0 -
I'd be quite happy to switch phone & broadband from BT to Sky if they give me a better offer. I have all the VDSL equipment already so it should be rather simple.0

Thank you - fingers crossed, they will try and retain me, I havent had any issues with their service in the last 7 years...apart from cost - I may just call them back and say dont cancel BB.
I did read on one of the previous posts that the 75% offers given to lure people back ends at the end of this month (Sept), does anyone know if this is true...without wanting to sound greedy :embarasse, I woudln't want to accept the first offer on the off chance a better offer may be sent out a few weeks later...this is on the assumption I get any offer at all
thanks again0 -
I've been reading the thread and thinking i'd like to give this a bash but not sure how to go about it. I was told by someone that if I threaten to leave for virgin i'd need to actually have a quote off them for a deal.
Unsure of how true that is.
Currently i'm on TV - Entertainment extra with Movies - £39.00
BB Unlimited - £7.50
Sky talk with talk anytime - £12.25 line rental, £5.00 for anytime. (£17.25 in total)
I've been with them about 1 year 8 months so out of contract. Have had a few problems with the BB.
Anyone any suggestions of how to get my bill down?0
