Been looking at the threads and decided to give Sky a call. My package is for Sky phone, line rental, broadband unlimited as well as sky tv wth 5 package, Hd, and both movies. The cost was £68.50. Decided to cancel movies a month ago so it went down to £52.50. Today i told them i wanted to cancel the whole tv package and after the helpful Scot looked at my packages he knocked it down to £40.25 but was still not happy...may as well use my freeview. He looked again at what he could do and i have got it all as above and included the movie channels for £37.50 for 6 month no contract increase and told to call back in 6 mth for more savings...Fantastic!!!!:j:j:j0

Greetings, my girlfriend was annoyed at the price we've been paying for sky, we were paying £101 a month (that includes calls) for HD, 1 TV Mix pack & Sky Sports sports, mulit-room, broadband & evening and weekend calls.
She rang them the other day to get a deal and it went down to £50 a month, she cancelled the multi-room and the HD (much to my annoyance!)
This morning Virgin put a leaflet through the letterbox which basically gave us everything we had plus more (movies/kids tv/discovery etc) for £1 cheaper than we were originally paying for sky (minus the multi-room) - she was dead set on changing to virgin so I said give sky a call and see what they will do.
We now have Sky+ HD Sky World - which is pretty much all TV packs and Movies, broadband and unlimited calls for £60 for 6 months. Result! And there's no contract on the Sky World etc, she said call back in six months and we'll see what else we can do.
I really think it does help if you actually have the details of what other companies are offering to hand so you can explain it and show you're not just bluffing, my girlfriend really did want to go with Virgin since Sky was becoming really expensive but now she's really happy with the deal they've given us. Obviously it's only for 6 months, but if they won't do anything for us after that we can just switch.
On a side note, with thanks to saynotosky0844 it was a free call too:D (0808 1014437)

I should also add in the time we've had sky at this house, we've only had the initial contract year without any form of discount. We got HD box free & installed free etc, a work colleague was happy because he got it installed free..didn't have the heart to tell him we got the box free too
Alas I reckon eventually Sky, Virgin, BT etc will all come up with some Airline style price protection where they all pat each others backs!0 -
Hey everyone,
I have just got a great deal from Sky.
I currently have the full package: HD+ Box, Sports Pack, Movies, Broadband, Phone, ESPN.
I have had it for years and threaten to leave yearly.
I called up and spoke to the cancelation team and told them that:
Virgin were offering me(go on their website and build a package) half price for 6 months if I signed with them so the guy said he would reduce my channel package by 50% for 6 months to match Virgin, he also got me £2.50 off of my broadband every month indefinitely (I was on sky max broadband but they have re-named it to Sky Broadband Unlimited and its cheaper on the new name!).
He was really helpful and said after the 6 months I should call again and ask for more deals and discounts.
Good luck getting your discounts!

coming to the end of my 50% off tv deal. have full package with them tv,phone, internet.
phoned cancellations on 4th was offerred 25% off for a year,
decided to go away and think about it. phoned back next day, guy said that there was a long foot note on my account saying that i had declinded the offer and he couldnt give me it again,
annoyed with the lies, i pledge my case but after a few mins without any budging i went and downgraded the package.
now i alays make a point of being couteous and nice when trying for deals. this is the first time i have actually got a operator who was argumentitive and rewd.
annoyed at this attitude i decided to go ahead and abort the downgrading and cancel the full package i have with them then whole and below the operator had "digged deep" (his words) and could now give me the 25% off, (wont phone after 8 again must have got a rookie part timer)
i then went and made a rookie mistake myself and let my feelings get in the way, annoyed at the crap and attitude of the operator i went and cancelled anyway. got my letter through today wishing me well and sorry to see me go.
in 30 days bye bye sky.
cant grunmble as it my own doing
we see if they bother giving me one last call beforing going, not holding my breath though.
good luck all0 -
Hi Everyone,
Thanks to this thread, I too phoned Sky to threaten to cancel my Sky World package as I could no longer afford. I was immediately offered 6months at half price and also advised to call back after that time to 'review' the situation. Simple 10min call will save me £26 a month for 6months! Chuffed.0 -
I just rang Sky to discuss my package (ooh er missus) as I have the 6 mix pack, unlimited broadband and free calls package and came away with nothing but the suggestion that Sky take another £30 off me to give me an HD box when the guy already knew I don't have an HD-ready telly (blinking old Panny just won't die!) and a debate about whether television is a luxury or a necessity (for the record Mr. Sky Employee, I actually said that SKY is a luxury, not that television is a luxury).
What happened to all these tales of 6 months at half price? Or did I just strike it lucky with a grumpy Scotsman (no offence peeps) who took delight in telling me that most people didn't even have electricity until the 1930s but we consider that to be a NECESSITY. Where did I go wrong? I told the guy that I was with Sky for two and a half years with no changes, apart from the fact their prices just keep going up, and that I was considering other providers to cut down on my expenditure.

just called sky as i have sky world, HD pack & 1 multiroom
first offered 25% discount for 12 months ( would have to commit to a 12 month contract again ), wasn't happy so gave 31 day notice.
she the offered half price for 6 months which i took.
i know the offers work out th same over a year but it was the commitment to another 12 months i wasn't happy with !!0 -
Our box lost signal for 2 days, after we complained sky sold us a sky+ box for £10 and free installation. Very happy0
