All Sky+ boxes now are actually Sky+ HD boxes, so if you have an HDTV you can watch the free HD channels even without the HD Pack. These are BBC One HD, BBC HD, ITV1 HD, Channel 4 HD and Channel 5 HD.
not quite. all new boxes are hd. but they are still trying to give people normal reconditioned sd boxes.2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0 -
got a phone cal from sky - didnt quite catch the name of the department.
was asked if as a loyal customer if i felt that i was treated the same way as a new customer, obviously i said no. the guy offered me a free hd box, free installation and half price hd for 8 months.
got to say i am tempted after seeing the difference in picture my folks got over their old picture. also my box has been having problems and had to reset it a few times in the last year.
is this the best deal out there considering it was them phoning me?2023 wins - zilch, nada, big fat duck. quack quack,0 -
I have cancelled my sky package this week. I spoke to a guy calles Steve, he was quite helpful, but would not give me a free replacement box, wanted to charge me £40. (my current one has a mind of it's own).
the box he offered was a HDbox but the HD part would be "switched off".
So, as it stands, i am on 31 days notice to cancel. Last time i did this, just before i moved, i got a call from CS offering me a deal to stay.
Here's hoping as i don't really want to lose it.Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today!
Cos if you do it today and like it...You can do it again tomorrow..

hello i have finished my 12 months contract and im now rolling month bills,
my channels stopped working properly so i rang up sky and asked them to fix it, but as im out of my 12 months warrenty i would have to pay£65 for someone to come out and fix it
i used to pay £42.50 per month for all channels apart from sports and movies, i get broadband and phone aswell
about 3-4 months ago i got them to drop that to £30 a month by getting them to give me free land line :P
so when on phone to them last night i refused the £65 fee for fixing my box, and asked to be sent to cancelations onec i got there started talking to a very friendly member of staff who offered me:
+1 years full HD ... free....
+1 years mulitroom +£10.25 a month ( was going for that away way)
+my box fixed for free if cant be fixed then replace with new for free
+ a brand new 1tb full hd sky+ box (worth £350) for free
all i have to pay if £49 ( the set up fee was gonna be £60 so got £10 off that) and a new total of only £40.25 a month :P
worth haggling them :money:
Really? That degree of retention incentives is absurd. Jackanory!0 -
I'm getting no where.
Phoned Virgin to cancel - I've got everything on the VIP package, and was pushing for 6months half price as they offer that to new customers.
Call back from retentions this afternoon who weren't able to offer me anything sensible, so still in place to be disconnected.
Does anyone have experience with them calling back again and offering something better ?Legal team on standby0 -
Anyone got any advice on haggling SKY down on this scenario?
Currently i have:
Standard SKY+ in the lounge
Standard SKY box in bedroom hence multi room subscription
Sky Sports
ESPN
For all the above i currently pay approx £58 per month and have been a customer for 12 years. I have my phone and Broadband with BT and do not want to change as i get a really good service.
My issue is that i have just been made redundant so i thought that it could be an aspect i could mention. My problem is that if i call to haggle and go for the old "i will cancel" threat they might call my bluff or simply suggest i drop the Sky Sports or the ESPN add ons. To complicate matters any deal involving a SKY HD box is problematical as i my LCD is not true HD and has only a DVI connector.
Thanks for any advice on haggling tactics0 -
