Im a long term Sky user been subscribed since day dot. Due to be switched of in 9 days had a call from sky but i was out are they likely to recontact me  my box is broken no record function so tried to get a HD box but they wanted me to pay for a call out, something Im not prepared to do, I cant get virgin etc so have to play bluff for more time.

I was the same as you, and in the end last May I cancelled my package. 3 months later I got a letter through saying that I can basically have any package for 1/2 price. So took them up on the offer and was paying just under £20 for Sky, including the Sports package.

Incidently, I have just now cancelled a second time as they weren't able to offer me a decent package/price. Tried to say they could possible knock £10 a month off the full price package so to come in at c.£37 a month. But the only way I could get that was by transferring our line rental to them.

Continued with my cancellation, and will have a look around at what else there is - such a shame that Virgin Media aren't in the area, as I would have liked to try them.

Hi, MSE guide says there is £142 cashback at Quidco on all Virgin Media Collections with free installation, 6 months half price and £60 credit.

Go onto the Quidco site and it seems to suggest £142.50 cashback is only for the "Premiere Collection"?

    "Save up to £254.95 + £142.50 cashback

    Expires in 3 days

Make a total saving of up to £397 on the Premiere Collection with 6 months half price (save £135), free installation (save £49.95) and £70 credit plus £142.50 cashback (more details)"

    However when I click "My Quidco" I get the offer in a small box;

"£142.50 cashback on any cable sale!

Also get free installation and 6 months half price with the Premiere collection."

So that seems to suggest even differently that you can get £142.50 cashback, but no free installation or 6 months half price (contrary to the MSE guide)

Is it Quidco £142.50 cashback, combined with Virgin Media offering free installation, 6 months half price and £70 credit?

    Tad confused!

Was paying for the full TV package at £62.25 plus phone and BB.

Rang up to reduce package in the hope of getting an offer - no luck at all. Got rid of sports and HD saving £23

Will need to take the HD back before it runs out as have loads of stuff recorded on the box

    Maybe next time
  • Just contacted sky to haggle and they were'nt having any of it.
Said I was prepared to take on fibre broadband and phone if they slashed a bit off and saved me some of my current overall costs..... wouldnt budge and even quoted more than the online package builder!!

Is the trick to actually cancel the package and let them come to you for the offer?

    Thanks!

I am currently with Sky and have just TV - we have the films and all sports. No HD.

I currently have TalkTalk internet & phones - with unlimited daytime and weekend calls.

If I were to take the whole package to Virgin as a new customer what sort of good deal do you think I should be looking for?

    Can anyone please help?

Pity the cashback offer mentioned in the article on the main website is no longer available, not topcashback has the best offer, it seems, about half of that

Just phoned sky to enquire about cancelling my package, been with them for years, nothing, they just said 31 days notice and they could take the notice over the telephone, can't believe that they were just prepared to let me go without even trying to keep me :/

I think their call centre staff have cottoned onto threatening to leave as a bargaining tool. With over ten million customers, they can afford to lose one or two genuine cancellations and call the bluff of the rest.

Having said all that, you can fully expect frequent half price offers in the post once you actually cease subscribing.
