Phoned Virgin last week as costs had been rising non stop. Package was
V+ box with XL tv
Broadband L
Phone Eve + weekends. Was paying £54 month.
Said had been looking at Sky because they were much cheaper and was only offered same package for £2 less so said no then offered extra Tivo box and to keep current V+ box for another room for £52.50 but would have to pay £50 set up so said I'd just cancel expecting them to offer something better but they didn't and said it would cancel after 30 days.
They phoned back this week asking why I was cancelling and offered 1tb Tivo box and current V+ in other room (no set up costs), 30mb Broadband, XL tv and e + w calls same as before for £46.50 and 1st month free. Said yes even though I could possibly have got more off as wanted to stay with them for included ESPN, still saved me money and got more than before. So don't be scared by saying you'll cancel, even if they don't phone back you have 30 days in which to call them back saying you've changed your mind so nothing to lose.0 -
Could you tell me where you found a 50% off code - I have never seen these?
Thanks
Sorry should of been more clear, not actually 50% of the total thing just 50% off movies and sports package I believe.

Hi Just spoke to retentions, my current package is £64pcm for entertainemt+, sports and multi room.
I need a phone line and broadband as well now as ive cancelled BT Line, they offered me this:
1. 20% off my sky package for 12 month
2. 25% off for 6 months no new contract
3. Line rental and Broadband for 10.50 for a year
4. Free HD box and 12 months free HD
I can only accept one of these offers, i told them offers werent good enough and i still wanted to cancel. They didnt go down anymore! Told me to have a think and call them back. If i ring back and say still want to cancel do you think they will come down more or is this the best i can get?
Thanks
Phone back and say that you would be willing to accept the 20% off for 12 months and ask them to reduce your line rental to £1 for 12 months as well.My user name is SkyInsider... I worked for Sky quite some time ago, also worked for Virgin Media and a few other tech companies as a consultant. All views are my own0 -

You can only accept one of the above deals today, either accept the box and hd or 20% off for 12 months. Then ring up again tomorrow and renegotiate your line rental and broadband which you should get for £10.50 a month.I cant see you getting it for £10.50 a year but give it a go.Make sure you are not put on a 12 month contract for either tv or phone.
The 50% off deals seem to be few and far between my sky tv was due to go off today, retentions contacted me and 20% off tv all packages and £3 per year line rental was the best I could negotiate. But happy with what I got saving me £380 per year.0 -
Further to my previous post, just to explain what I have done. 1st day I negotiated the 20% off for 12 months, rang sky back next day and got line rental for £3 per month and finally I reinstated my HD package on line where the current offer is 3 months free and £100 marks and sparks vouchers. It seems from speaking to sky's call center that only 1 deal shows up per day on your account. So just keep phoning until you get the deal that you want.0

After coming to the end of a 6 month half price deal with sky I rang up and was offered nothing, so I cancelled and was cut off on the 12th of April.
I received a mail shot today through the post offering the full package (movies & sports) 6 months free with the remaining 6 months at full price on a 12 month contract, so basically half price for 12 months.
Sky must be getting desperate as I've received the same offer again this morning in the post lol0 -
Hiya all decided to take the plunge, not sure I hav found the best deal I could:
Currently with Virgin 12 month, 10mb broadband, free weekend calls and large tv at £43 roughly a month
They offered 30MB broadband, free weekend calls, Large tv for 12 months at £35 or £38.50 to add free evening calls,
I tried to get this lower to match a new customer but they said they no longer offer 12 months contracts so this was the best.
Looking at sky and BT i dont THINK i can get better, opinions? was very scary haggling lol
oh i managed to get better with sky but a custom basket, is there a way to go through topcashback through an emailed link?Need a new start..wheres good to live in the UK?!0 -

Firstly- it sin't haggling, so no need to be nervous. all you are doing is asking for what you are entitled to.
What do you use your BB for? If it is general browsing standard ADSL could be an option for you. Have a look at the speeds you can get in your area.
It can help to break down your costs and call virgin back:
L TV = Entertainment (with more channels)with Sky (£20 pm)
Phone & BB = TalkTalk (with cheaper calls)(£13pm)
So, without any new customer deals (and 5 mins checking) you can get much cheaper. Call Virgin back and quote these prices. Tell them you don't need Fiber BB, you don't want a new box, and if they can not beat that price you will leave.... and hand in your notice if they don't.My user name is SkyInsider... Did you go through to cancellations each time you rang or just the customer services?0 -

Is Phone & BB with Talktalk cheaper than the BT deal. I have unlimited 01,02,03 and 0845 plus 0870 phone calls free anytime and paying 12 months in advance £120 but I do pay BB separately with Virgin who charge me for L TV and BB at £36.50 per month ? Can I get BB cheaper as I want to stay with Virgin for TV (alibi etc. for hubby:)) ?0
